In news that DC Comics and Marvel Comics readers can appreciate, both publishers are teaming up to bring their most epic crossovers back into the hands of fans. It's been a cold period between the Big Two and many thought their heyday of working together was over. But the two titans of the comic book industry are finally reuniting for two collections sure to put a smile on fans' faces.

Marvel Comics and DC Comics revealed that for the first time in decades, the publishers were putting their crossovers back into print. Later this year, the two will release DC Versus Marvel Omnibus, a collection containing one-shots such as Darkseid vs. Galactus: The Hunger #1, Punisher/Batman: Deadly Knights #1, and Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man #1.

DC and Marvel's Crossovers Are Coming Back Into Circulation

Batman and Daredevil DC Marvel

The Big Two made history back in the 70s when they brought Superman and Spider-Man together for an unexpected adventure. But that one-off led to dozens of tales where heroes from the two universes united to overcome great evil together. These crossovers reached their apex when the publishers tly founded Amalgam Comics, a short-lived imprint created during DC vs. Marvel that put out one-shots of fused heroes. Unfortunately, after the landmark crossover JLA/Avengers, crossovers between DC and Marvel came to a complete stop. They still had crossovers with other franchises, but the Big Two's inter-company adventures were done.

While it seems hard to believe that Marvel Comics and DC Comics are working together again, this isn't the first time the two reunited to republish old material in recent years. In 2022, both comic companies agreed to rerelease a limited run of JLA/Avengers to benefit comic creator George Pérez. But these new omnibus releases go above and beyond by collecting stories that haven't been available for years and could only be acquired by purchasing older, often pricier trades. With Marvel and DC finally working together again, who knows what the future could hold for the two publishers?

Some fans may already be speculating on the idea of Marvel Comics and DC Comics creating new crossovers in the wake of this reprinting. While there's no news on that front, the success of these trades could show how much demand there is for new stories that bring the DCU and the Marvel Universes together. At the very least, fans who have wanted to read stories that pair heroes like the X-Men and the Teen Titans together will finally have their chances later this year with these brand-new Marvel/DC omnibuses.

DC Versus Marvel Omnibus and DC/Marvel: The Amalgam Age Omnibus will be available on August 6th from Marvel Comics and DC Comics.
