The main competitor to David Corenswet for the titular role in James Gunn's DC movie edges closer, those who missed out on Superman have begun speaking out about their experiences.
Perhaps the main competitor of Corenswet in this regard was Tom Brittney, with the actor recently appearing on the Hellish podcast. Naturally, Brittney was asked about his thoughts on Corenswet being cast as Clark Kent in the DCU's Chapter One. As expected, Brittney gave a classy answer that did nothing other than praise Corenswet: “David Corenswet got it - I mean the guy was born to play Superman, he looks exactly like him... I think he’s a wonderful actor.”
What Tom Brittney's David Corenswet Comments Mean
Overall, Brittney's comments are as simple as they seem. Brittney is correct in his statement that Corenswet looks exactly like Superman and, as such, is often labeled as being born to play the character. Corenswet was possibly the leading candidate to play Clark Kent as soon as Henry Cavill's tenure ended, with fan castings worldwide placing the former as the next Man of Tomorrow in Gunn's fledgling universe.
As evident by Brittney's comments, it seems he would agree; Brittney clearly does not hold any hard feelings towards Corenswet. Although many might find this obvious given both actors are prominent within the industry and are no strangers to losing out on roles, it would be difficult not to place a lot of hope on being cast as a character as iconic as Superman. Thankfully, Brittney has nothing but nice things to say about Corenswet, echoing many of the sentiments that DC fans have held since his casting as Superman was announced.
Our Take On Tom Brittney's David Corenswet Comments
The Right Person Was Picked For Superman, And The Right Person Wasn't
I must it, it is nice to see Brittney taking the reality that Corenswet pipped him to the Superman role well. In a world that is often so filled with negativity and hatred, it would have been easy for Brittney to hold a grudge against Corenswet. After all, it is not lost on me that a role like Superman could change someone's life, especially given that it is expected to last for a long time after Chapter One: Gods and Monsters in the DCU's case.

DCU Chapter One Gods And Monsters: Every Movie & Show In The New DC Universe
James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Universe begins with six movies and six shows that open the DCU's first chapter, "Gods and Monsters".
However, I am thankful that Brittney chose to praise Corenswet in light of this. If anything, this proves to me that James Gunn's casting choices, regardless of who ended up in the role, were perfect. Superman is a character that embodies everything humanity should be: goodness, positivity, grace, and humility. Brittney seems to typify these traits in his comments about Corenswet, just as the actor eventually chosen as Clark Kent is sure to do once Superman hits theaters in 2025.
