In Creature Commandos episode 1’s opening scene, a news report shows a group of rebels called “the Sons of Themyscira” invading the nation of Pokolistan, led by the Amazonian sorceress Circe. According to the report, Circe plans to claim the throne of the “perhaps mythical, perhaps real, all-female nation of Themyscira”. Circe allegedly promised the Sons of Themyscira to help them conquer the Amazons’ land. Some of the rebels’ arguments for the invasion are based on the idea that Themyscira is “the sickest place ever” and that men should also be able to enjoy it.

Circe and the Sons of Themyscira’s attack on Pokolistan may lead the fictional nation to a war with Themyscira, and therefore to Themyscira’s most important leaders to step out of the shadows to defuse the situation. Creature Commandos episode 1’s news report confirms the world doesn’t know whether Themyscira is real or not, meaning that the Amazons and Wonder Woman might only unveil their existence when Themyscira is threatened by mortal men. And as Creature Commandos suggests, that might happen really soon.

Wonder Woman was the only member of DC’s Trinity not to receive her own solo project in the DCU’s “Gods and Monsters” announcement. Wonder Woman 1984’s poor performance is also fresh in the audience’s minds, and Gal Gadot only said farewell to her Wonder Woman portrayal after the DCU was officially announced, as she had allegedly spoken to James Gunn about reprising her role in a future movie, but these conversations apparently fell through and Wonder Woman 3 was officially canceled. Wonder Woman’s lack of solo projects in “Gods and Monsters” seemed worrisome despite Paradise Lost’s announcement, but Creature Commandos’ nod to Themyscira eases those worries.

Superman and Batman have a significant headstart over Wonder Woman in the DCU. Not only will the World’s Finest have their own theatrical movies in “Gods and Monsters”, but several of their closely related characters will also begin their respective DCU stories early on. Characters like Lex Luthor and Damian Wayne will debut in Superman and The Brave and the Bold, and Kara Zor-El will star in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Paradise Lost’s possible connection to Creature Commandos suggests the Wonder Woman prequel show won’t take place too long ago in the DCU’s past.

Unlike Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman got two solo movies, one of them being Patty Jenkins’ critically and commercially successful Wonder Woman solo film, which is widely regarded as one of the strongest DCEU installments. Wonder Woman’s popularity may be the reason why the DCU isn’t rebooting Diana Prince’s origin story so soon. Many qualities from Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman may still be difficult for fans to shake off, from her version of Themyscira to her now-iconic theme.
