The long-standing habit for DCeased, however, explained there’s one very specific requirement for ing the Bat’s motley crew of vigilantes.
Quite a bit of ground has already been covered in DCeased: Dead Planet. In the wake of the Anti-Life Equation, the survivors have gathered to battle the new undead threat that is plaguing the DC heroes. The potential cure lies with Cyborg, the mobius chair, and a particular item that needs collecting, all of which need to be collected before the ticking clock of Trigon’s arrival from Hell runs out. In the middle of all this chaos is the long-suffering Constantine, who has accepted the role of de facto leader. He gathers a group of surviving heroes to break into Nanda Parbat in order to steal the previously mentioned item that could change the fight against the undead.
In Rose Wilson, aka the Ravager. Damian, surprised by the news of the newlyweds, welcomes Rose into the family, letting her know she’ll fit right in, especially if she brought “complex, unresolved father issues.” To which Rose replies, “I brought so many.”
This joke packs a particular comic punch for many readers of DC comics. It’s no secret that most of Batman’s sidekicks and cohorts treat the caped crusader as somewhat what of a father figure. A fair few have even lived with the billionaire in the past. Damian Wayne’s self-aware comment about the Batman family’s issues and their strange relationship with his father makes the joke all the more entertaining to readers in an otherwise fast-paced comic.
It’s difficult to know where the twisting plot of DCeased: Dead Planet will take readers, though, by the looks of it, it will certainly be peppered with plenty of action and meta jokes. DCeased: Dead Planet #5 by Tom Taylor and Trevor Hairsine is available now.
