DC comics are full of unique and interesting characters, and while many of them, like Superman and Harley Quinn, have been brought into the DC Extended Universe and have been the focus of several movies, there are others that have either been underutilized or not shown at all.

While some will get another chance in the franchise, others will not. There are plenty of characters that haven't been given much to do in the early movies of the franchise that fans would love to see either rebooted or given more purpose in future projects.

Ryan Choi

There was supposed to be a scene in Justice League that introduces Ryan Choi as one of the scientists that work at STAR Labs. However, the scene with him would ultimately be cut from the film under the direction of Joss Whedon. In the comics, Choi is the third character to have the mantle of the Atom, a hero with the ability to alter their size, after Al Pratt and Ray Palmer.

Since the Zack Snyder's Justice League will reportedly be the original vision of the movie, there is a good chance fans could see the character reappear there. However, it's unlikely that anything else will come from it besides it being a nod at the fans, but even that is better than nothing.

Jim Gordon

JK Simmons in Justice League

The theatrical release of Justice League was a film full of disappointments, so it's not a surprise that it somehow manages to waste another popular character. Many were excited when they heard that Jim Gordon would be in the movie, but many were let down when his character was barely in it for 5 minutes and was only used to provide exposition.

In the comics, Gordon is Batman's long-time ally and only real reliable member of the Gotham City Police department, and he is one of the more iconic characters from Batman lore. Hopefully, if he does appear in the future of the franchise, they give something more interesting to do.

Amanda Waller

Amanda Waller Suicide Squad

one character that suffered the most was Amanda Waller. After the opening scenes where she pitches the idea of Task Force X to the government, she disappears and reappears at random points in the film.

At one point, it's assumed that she died when the team's helicopter is shot down, but then she inexplicably pops back up at the end of the film. While the casting and portrayal were perfect, the character was used too sparingly for it to be fully appreciated. On the bright side, the character is getting another chance in the spiritual sequel, The Suicide Squad.

Lois Lane

In the comics, beyond being Clark Kent's girlfriend, Man of Steel, she became much more of a damsel in distress in later movies.

They attempted to give her something to do in the extended cut of Batman V. Superman by having her investigative Lex Luthor, but it didn't really matter in the overall plot, and she ends up being reduced to just motivating Clark.

Robin

In Batman V. Superman, Bruce Wayne has been active for over several decades and has experienced his fair share of trauma. Unfortunately, the main piece of evidence for this was the suit of his former sidekick, Robin, displayed in the Batcave. It was later revealed in Suicide Squad that Joker and Harley were responsible for the death of the sidekick, which is something taken from the Death in the Family Arc in the comics.

However, unlike in the comics, Zack Snyder revealed that the dead Robin was actually Dick Grayson instead of Jason Todd. Many took issue with the fact that a fan-favorite character was not only killed so early, but was killed offscreen, especially given that he usually goes on to become Nightwing.

Jimmy Olsen

It was surprising to many when James "Jimmy" Olsen showed up in the opening scene of Batman V. Superman only to be revealed as a CIA agent posing as a photographer, meant to accompany Lois while she did a piece on the Nairomian warlord General Amajagh, before almost immediately being discovered by Anatoli Knyazev and being killed off.

Traditionally, in the comics, Olsen is a photographer that works for the Daily Planet and is a close friend of Superman, which would have been a great way to further humanize the man of steel in the movies.

Joker

Jared Leto as the Joker

The Joker is one of DC's Joker origin movie. However, the one that was introduced to fans in Suicide Squad came off as creepy, and not in the way fans wanted from the character.

He only really appears to establish Harley as a character, but isn't given much to do besides try to rescue her throughout the movie. Director David Ayer has made it clear that the character had a much more important role in his cut, and since the character will also appear in Zack Snyder's Justice League, he may get an opportunity to redeem himself.

Katana

Another character that wasn't done justice in Suicide Squad was Katana. Not only was she poorly introduced with clunky exposition, but she also barely has any lines of dialogue. Despite having an interesting backstory with the soul of her dead husband being trapped in her sword, it's never shown and it's instead briefly mentioned in a throwaway line.

It's even more disappointing that she won't be in the sequel film, so she won't get the same chance at redemption that characters like Amanda Waller and Captain Boomerang will be getting.

Deathstroke

Deathstroke speaks to Lex Luthor on a boat during sunset in Justice League.

There have been many onscreen versions of Deathstroke, but the one in the DCEU had the potential to be the best so far. The character briefly appears in the post-credit scene of Justice League, talking with a recently escaped Lex Luthor and hinting at a possible sequel. Unfortunately, the scene ultimately went nowhere and a perfect costume goes to waste.

Deathstroke was supposed to be the main villain in a solo Batman movie, but the project was abandoned, meaning that the last place fans will likely see the character will be in the Snyder Cut.

Cyborg

Cyborg begins to cry in Justice League

Lots of character's roles were cut in the theatrical version of Justice League, but the one that was edited down the most seems to be Victor Stone.

Zack Snyder and Ray Fisher confirmed that he was supposed to be the heart of the team in the original project. However, when the film was being redone, a lot of his scenes got cut and never made it into the actual film.
