Dead by Daylight has a roster of killers that are both familiar and new. The Blight is the newest addition of ghouls to take control of and this guide will explain what he can do.

Now with up to twenty-one killers available in Dead by Daylight, The Blight is the newest ugly head added to the list. He will be officially released with the Chapter XVII: Descent Beyond DLC on September 2020. This asymmetrical horror-survival game helped launch a slew of other iterations of this sub-genre that's gained momentum over the last few years. Dead by Daylight is about a group of survivors being toyed with by a supreme being called "The Entity" as they're shifted through various domains and hunted down by a killer. Players take control of the survivors and the killer as they both try to outwit each other and win the match. The killer must capture the survivors and string them up on meat hooks, that act as an offering for 'The Entity'. Meanwhile, the survivors need to slink around the map and repair generators that'll open up electric gates for their escape. It's a game of 'cat and mouse' with a neverending change in carnage and suspense.

Being an alchemist that was resurrected, The Blight is a villain that can juice himself up with a concoction in syringes that grants speed and other abilities. Thus, his 'Bonebuster' melee weapon can provide a thorough walloping in quick secession. Just know that he needs to be pretty close to the survivor in order to land effective blows. There's a reason why this killer is known as "The Blight" since he specializes in affecting; totems, generators, and pallets in his favor. He almost acts as a walking plaque that weakens elements throughout the map with his hexes. Although he's a rather tall ghoul and he can move like lightning. One accidental glimpse of him while traversing the map could spell defeat for the survivors. The Blight comes with a loose move set that takes some getting used to. There are lethal attacks that can be chained after using his 'rush attack'. The trick is that players need to 'slam' onto their target first then a small window of opportunity to 'lethal rush' the victim will present itself. This will feel strange at first and players will need to complete a few trails before getting the hang of it. Make no mistake, The Blight is a very unique killer that will need to practice to hone his skills.

Tips on Playing The Blight in Dead by Daylight

The Blight can be a bit hard to navigate while rushing. What players need to do is focus on a 'circle' which indicates where The Blight is about to slam into. It is kind of like a targeting system that'll help players pinpoint exactly where they want to go. Keep in mind that a small animation of The Blight injecting himself with a syringe will activate after each rush. This gives a trade-off of when to use it. It is best used sparingly and when there's only a beeline straight to a victim. Otherwise, accidentally bumping into a wall will cause players to lose sight of fleeing victims during a chase. The Blight's perks excel by slowing down the survivors and giving away their position, which can make all the difference during the last few moments of a trail.

The Blight's Perks

  • Dragon's Grip

The position of a survivor trying to fix a generator will be revealed for 4 seconds within a 30-second window after kicking it. Plus, they will be under the 'exposed status' effect for 60 seconds.

  • Hex: Blood Favour

All pallets within 16 meters from a survivor can't be pulled down after getting hit by a basic attack. This lasts for 15 seconds.

  • Hex: Undying

Whenever this perk is active, the hex will transfer an available dull totem after it has been cleansed. The tokens of 'Hex Perks' will reset when transferred between totems. Thus, the aura of survivors will be revealed up to 6 seconds within 2 meters of any totem.

How to Play as The Blight in Dead by Daylight

All the interactive elements on a map will shift toward The Blight's favor once all the perks are unlocked. With 'The Blight's' speed, it'll be fairly easy to keep the pressure on during a trial. Zipping around the map will keep the survivors scattering about while providing ample opportunity to kick generators. The 'Bonebuster' can be used while rushing, giving the opportunity to slash victims who are running away. He doesn't have the best range, so lunging attacks up close is the best way to take down survivors. He comes with an unusually large hitbox and he can feel a bit wonky at first. Once all the quirks are worked around, there will be a method to the madness on how he works.

The perks will leave survivors vulnerable for just long enough to take one or two down in a matter of seconds. This is especially true if players manage to activate the 'Blood Favour' hex perk while chasing victims in a loop. Usually, they'll break the loop with a pallet and it will no longer be possible when this perk is activated. Therefore, The Blight can be a terrifying nemesis during a trial since he has the ability to strip away all means of escape while on pursuit. Just be sure to line up the attacks while chasing victims and double-check the hits will land to avoid frustrating animations that will stagnant the chase.
