Wade Wilson and his lovely red suit are back in action this summer with X-Force.

The plot of Deadpool 2 involves Cable traveling back in time with his sights set on a powerful young mutant referred to as "the kid" (played by Julian Dennison), and Deadpool making it his mission to protect the kid. This trailer features plenty of new footage (and, of course, lots of jokes) so without further ado, let's break it down.

25. X-Force Gears Up For a Mission

Deadpool 2 - X-Force Arms Up

One of the big action setpieces of Deadpool 2 involves X-Force intercepting a prison transport convey where the kid is being held, and Cable attacking the same convoy. The trailer opens with the team gearing up inside a helicopter, because naturally they're going to do a sky-dive onto the scene. It's unclear where exactly Deadpool got a helicopter (complete with pilots!) from, considering that his usual mode of transportation is a taxi cab that he doesn't even pay for, but sequels are all about getting upgrades.

24. X-Men Arriving in Style

Deadpool 2 - X-Jet

Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead apparently got their hands on the keys to the X-Jet, because when they arrive on the scene to deal with the pyrokinetic kid's unfortunate display of powers, they arrive by air. Based on what we see in this trailer, it seems like this may be the first battle between various forces trying to get their hands on the kid: including Cable, Deadpool, the X-Men, and the DMC (which we're guessing stands for Department of Mutant Control).

23. From the Studio That...

Deadpool 2 - From the Studio That Killed Wolverine

"From the studio that brought you..." screens are often overlooked in movie trailers, since they're generally the least exciting part, but Deadpool 2's trailers have been cramming in jokes everywhere they'll fit. A previous trailer boasted that Deadpool 2 is from "the studio that brought you 27 Dresses and The Devil Wears Prada," while this final trailer offers up a bit of a spoiler for last year's Logan.

22. The Kid

Deadpool 2 - Julian Dennison as The Kid

The current best guess as to who Julian Dennison is playing is Russell Collins a.k.a. Firefist, a pyrokinetic (a.k.a. someone with the ability to shoot fire out of their hands). We certainly see "the kid" wreaking a lot of destruction in this trailer - including the scene where the X-Men jet is landing near a building that the kid has apparently partially destroyed. It seems like this might be the incident that gets him thrown in mutant jail with Deadpool. Like Wade, we're still pretty confused about why Cable is so determined to get his hands on this one kid, but presumably he's on a path that could lead to disaster in the future.

21. The Most Ambitious Crossover Event in History

Deadpool 2 - Thanos reference

There's no way that Deadpool 2 was going to cast Josh Brolin, who plays Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, without making a joke or twenty or about it. While riding in Dopinder's cab, Deadpool invites Cable to "hump the hate brakes, Thanos," and it's the not the last comic book meta-reference that Cable gets hit with in this trailer. Brolin can be seen playing the big purple cosmic supervillain in Avengers: Infinity War later this month.

20. Bedlam

Deadpool 2 - Terry Crews as Bedlam

Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Terry Crews is also ing the X-Force as the mutant Bedlam (a.k.a. Jesse Aaronson), who in the comics has the ability to generate an electro-magnetic field that wreaks havoc with any nearby technology. It's the sort of skill that could be very useful if, say, you wanted to break someone out of a prison transport convoy. We don't get to see Bedlam show off his mutant powers in this trailer, but we do learn that he's quite adept at punching people, which is also a useful skill.

19. Shatterstar

Lewis Tan as Shatterstar swinging his blades in Deadpool 2

Cable isn't the only time-traveling mutant in the cast of Deadpool 2, though it's unclear if Lewis Tan's Shatterstar (a.k.a. Gaveedra Seven) is also from the future in this movie (or even from another planet; in the comics he hails from a place called Mojoworld), or if he's just a mutant who happens to be hanging around when Deadpool puts out his ad for superhero team . Shatterstar's main selling point is his talent for fighting with dual swords, making him a deadly opponent in any fight.

18. Domino

Zazie Beetz as Domino in her street clothes in Deadpool 2

Despite Deadpool's insistence that luck is not a superpower, Domino's mutant ability is actually incredibly useful. We see it in play several times in this trailer - for example, when a DMC soldier attempts to shoot her, only to have his gun jam, and when a flying truck conveniently es over her head (in slow motion, no less) instead of crushing her. Even the luckiest mutant needs other skills, however, so naturally Domino is also packing plenty of heat.

17. Zeitgeist, Rictor, or Someone Else?

Deadpool 2 - X-Force in helicopter

There are a few actors in Deadpool 2 whose characters remain unconfirmed, and one of the trickiest to crack has been Bill Skarsgård's character, who is another member of X-Force. Since Deadpool 2 was filmed, Skarsgård has gained new fame for his performance as Pennywise in the movie reboot of IT, which has only heightened interest and speculation about who he might be playing. Currently the best guesses are Axel Cluney a.k.a. Zeitgeist, a mutant who spews acidic vomit, and Rictor, a mutant who can create shockwaves and had a romantic relationship with Shatterstar in the comics.

16. Wait... Whose Parachute is That?

Deadpool 2 - Skydiving

There are few things more badass than jumping out of a helicopter on your way to a fight, but if you pause this scene where the X-Force are getting their Point Break on, you'll notice that someone appears to have lost their parachute. Maybe the X-Force originally have an extra member whose involvement in the team ends up being short-lived (see also: Slipknot), or maybe this is a surprise Fantastic Four crossover and they've recruited the Invisible Woman.
