Original X-Men actor James Marsden shares his thoughts on the Deadpool & Wolverine cast also served as a tribute to the Fox-Marvel era, which helped pave the way for the superhero movie genre that exists today. Even though many Fox-Marvel stars weren't in Deadpool & Wolverine, some, like Marsden, definitely didn't miss watching the Phase 5 installment as viewers.

During a new interview with ScreenRant's Joe Deckelmeier to promote Sonic the Hedgehog 3, James Marsden looked back at his Marvel legacy in relation to seeing Jackman's return in Deadpool & Wolverine. While he said he loved to see his former co-star finally suited up in the classic Wolverine costume, Marsden also addressed what the chances are of him reprising the role of Cyclops for the MCU.

I know so little about all of that. I loved the movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, it was great, and seeing Hugh back in that costume was great. I look back on that experience with such affection and reverence for all of it, and I loved playing that character. It was one of the highlights of my career, for sure. So, it was a joy and yeah, I mean, I don't know what they're doing or what's happening with it all, but it was always fun to put that costume on.

What James Marsden's Deadpool & Wolverine And MCU Future Comments Mean

When it comes to the Fox-Marvel movies, despite their ups and downs, that was a special era for the comic book genre, since studios were still not sure if they wanted to invest in superhero films at that point. With both actors having been major parts of the X-Men franchise from the early 2000s, it is obviously a very sentimental thing for Marsden to see Jackman still playing Wolverine after all these years, especially in a film like Deadpool & Wolverine. Given the popularity of Cyclops in not just the Marvel Comics canon but as a superhero for the general audience, it speaks volumes to hear how Marsden feels about his time playing the beloved X-Men hero.

When it comes to seeing Marsden back as Cyclops, there have been a lot of theories that many of the Fox-Marvel actors will appear in Avengers: Doomsday and/or Avengers: Secret Wars, as The Multiverse Saga gets closer to its end. Based on Marsden's response, it definitely sounds like he would be more than happy to come back if Marvel Studios approached him. Whether or not that has happened yet or will remains to be seen, as Marsden wouldn't be allowed to reveal if he was already signed on even if he was.

Our Take On James Marsden's Deadpool & Wolverine And MCU Future Comments

Cyclops in X-Men Days of Future Past

Knowing how far their relationship goes, it's always fun to hear someone like Marsden being thrilled for Jackman having his massive moment in 2024 with Deadpool & Wolverine. In of another potential go with the Cyclops character, it would be a shock if The Multiverse Saga's final phase doesn't find a way to feature Marsden in the MCU timeline in one way or another. But until he makes his hypothetical MCU appearance, Deadpool & Wolverine serves as a solid conclusion to the Fox-Marvel era of superhero movies.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set to open in theaters next Friday, December 20.
