all MCU movies. That worked out perfectly for the franchise, as it fit the tone of Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, going on to have an outstanding global run. Deadpool & Wolverine became the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, with $1.3 billion worldwide. While Marvel does not take home that whole sum, even after all expenses were removed, it still made a hefty profit.
According to a new report from Deadline, Deadpool & Wolverine made $400 million in profit for Marvel Studios. That s for the film's $1.3 billion box office total, of which Marvel took $620 million, and revenue sources like Home Entertainment and Television & Streaming, with expenses, such as marketing costs and the film's budget, deducted from the total. Deadpool & Wolverine made it into the third spot on Deadline's Most Valuable Blockbuster List for 2024 releases. With its huge profit, attention turns to whether a Deadpool & Wolverine sequel could be in the works.
What Deadpool & Wolverine’s Profit Means
The MCU Needs To Bring The Heroes Back
The Multiverse Saga has been a divisive period for the MCU. While there have been some very successful projects, such as Spider-Man: No Way Home or Loki, many MCU movies and series have not performed as well as expected. For instance, The Marvels became the lowest-grossing movie in the MCU with a measly $206.1 million worldwide, even though 2019's Captain Marvel broke the $1 billion mark. As such, Marvel needs to hold on to its recent hits and find ways of exploring those characters again.

10 Most Violent Marvel Movies & TV Shows
Daredevil: Born Again has shown how violent the MCU can be, but it is far from the first bloody Marvel movie or TV show, with a few standing out.
The studio is already showing that is what it intends to do with Deadpool & Wolverine, as Channing Tatum's Gambit was confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday after making his MCU debut as part of the Ryan Reynolds wants Deadpool to become a ing MCU character.
Our Take On Deadpool & Wolverine’s Profit
Ryan Reynolds And Hugh Jackman Are A Solid Duo
Based on Deadpool & Wolverine's huge profit for Marvel Studios, I would be shocked if the MCU did not put a sequel of sorts in development. While Reynolds has made it clear that he does not want to lead a Marvel movie again, the actor's recent comments teased he might be writing an ensemble piece with Deadpool in it. Whether that is accurate or not, perhaps it would be in the MCU's best interest to bring back the X-Force concept from Deadpool 2, allowing a sequel to grow in scope and use what worked for Deadpool & Wolverine.
