Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Venom War: Deadpool #2! In the more recent continuity of Marvel Comics, this Carnage offspring to become an all-new hero - complete with a codename and costume.
In Venom War: Deadpool #2 by Cullen Bunn and Rob Di Salvo, Deadpool and Princess are fighting hordes of undead symbiotes (called zombiotes) alongside a small strike-force consisting entirely of monsters. In a previous story arc, Deadpool was made the King of Monsters in their underground city of Monster Metropolis. And now, Deadpool has called upon his former allies to battle the zombiotes that are threatening New York City - and the entire world. However, Deadpool quickly learns that the zombiotes don’t pose as much of a threat as one of his monster-recruits: Poison.
Poison aka Jimmy Hudson is Wolverine’s son from the original Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610), and after he jumped over into Earth-616, he was infected by an alien parasite similar to a symbiote (called Poison), which turned him into a monster - and this issue shows his breaking point. Poison loses his mind while fighting the zombiotes, and decides that every monster around him deserves to die. Poison lashes out at his allies, including Princess, landing a potentially fatal blow. So, in order to save herself, Princess bonds with her father, Deadpool, turning them both into an all-new hero: Princess Deadpool.
Princess Deadpool has the appearance of a classic ‘Venomized’ character, but with one key difference: wolf-like features. Princess takes the form of a dog when she’s without a host, and those features remain when she’s bonded with Deadpool, making Princess Deadpool look much more vicious and deadly.
Who Is Princess? Deadpool’s Dog-Like Symbiote Daughter, Explained
Princess was ‘Born’ in Deadpool Vol. 9 #1
While the fact that Deadpool has gotten an all-new symbiote alter ego - complete with an official name and costume - is extremely exciting, it’s important to know about the symbiote Wade Wilson bonded with herself. As previously mentioned, Princess is the ‘child’ of Deadpool and Carnage. When Harrower took a dying piece of symbiote from the corpse of Carnage following the events of Absolute Carnage, she implanted it within Deadpool. That piece of the Carnage symbiote gestated inside Wade, and when it was fully formed, it burst from his chest like a Xenomorph from Alien.
Princess remained fiercely loyal to her ‘father’, Deadpool, after he gave life to her.
While Harrower was trying to resurrect a new version of Carnage that was loyal to only her (and not the King in Black), she greatly underestimated Deadpool’s influence on the symbiote. It didn’t just use Wade’s healing factor to grow into a new, independent life form, it also incorporated aspects of Deadpool himself, making the symbiote fiercely loyal to her ‘father’. And what made the symbiote’s loyalty to Deadpool even stronger was Deadpool’s immediate and complete acceptance of her. Deadpool didn’t view the symbiote as a horrific alien parasite, he saw her as his legitimate daughter.
Princess is Deadpool’s second daughter, and in Deadpool Vol. 10, the symbiote dog is helping her sister, Ellie, as she takes on the mantle of Marvel Comics’ new Deadpool in a storyline that chronologically takes place after the events of Venom War.
Soon afterward, Deadpool’s ‘Carnage’ symbiote adopted the name Princess, and took the form of a giant red dog. During the events of Deadpool Vol. 10 (the current Deadpool comic run), Princess becomes an official member of Deadpool’s team alongside his other daughter, Ellie, and Taskmaster. Readers see that in this issue of Venom War: Deadpool, as Princess is fighting right alongside her father against hordes of zombiotes. And Deadpool proves his love for her once again by bonding with Princess to save her life, and getting a pretty sweet upgrade as a result.
‘Princess Deadpool’ isn’t the Merc with a Mouth’s First Symbiote Alter Ego
Deadpool also Wore the Venom Symbiote to Become Venompool
Princess Deadpool is a brand-new symbiote alter ego for Deadpool, one that pushes the boundaries of how badass a ‘Venomized’ character can be with the incorporation of wolf-like characteristics and the immensely strong bond that’s been established between symbiote and host. However, while this might be Deadpool’s latest ‘Venomized’ form, it’s certainly not his first. In fact, Deadpool once wore the Venom symbiote itself to become the iconic Venompool, whose appearance incorporated Deadpool’s costume (including and especially the red color) with the classic Venom design.
Venompool was first introduced in a What If…? comic, but has since become his own character who exists in a separate universe. That means Venompool isn’t just a hypothetical mashup, he’s an actual Deadpool variant. Because of that, Venompool has made a number of appearances throughout Marvel Comics - most notably, any story that involves the multiversal Deadpool Corps. Does that mean it’s possible that Venompool and Princess Deadpool could meet in a future storyline, and even battle? While it might be a long shot, it’s definitely possible, and it would make Deadpool’s latest symbiote upgrade even cooler.

New Deadpool Showcases Their Healing Factor with Extreme Kill Worthy of Wade Wilson
Marvel Comics' new Deadpool uses their healing factor to showcase a brutally extreme kill that the original Deadpool, Wade Wilson, would be proud of.
Regardless of whether Princess Deadpool will get the chance to fight their other ‘Venomized’ alter ego, Venompool, this new amalgam hero stands on their own as being truly awesome. Even with just the brief appearance fans got in Venom War: Deadpool #2, that much has been made abundantly clear with just the codename and costume of this badass Deadpool/Carnage hero.
