Marvel showcased one of Deadpool has always been known for his chaotically morbid anti-hero lifestyle, tinged with his fourth-wall-breaking humor, but Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe trilogy takes this sentiment to the absolute extreme.

In a preview to Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time #1 – written by Cullen Bunn, with art by Dalibor Lalagić – Deadpool sits within a desolate world in which Wade Wilson has killed all of Marvel’s heroes and villains, causing society to crumble. Alphea, seemingly a time-traveling hero, approaches Deadpool, who tells him she would like to enlist his help, setting up a redemption arc for Marvel’s most tragic variant of Deadpool.

This timeline seemingly follows the events of Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again, where Deadpool was tricked into brutally murdering his closest allies, heroes, and friends.

In the first installment of Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, a failed brainwashing by Psycho-Man leaves Deadpool in a bloodthirsty state that leads him to kill the entire roster of the Marvel Universe, including the Avengers, the X-Men, and cosmic entities like the Watcher. However, this recent story appears to be a continuation of Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again, a different Earth where Deadpool is brainwashed and manipulated by Red Skull into brutalizing his friends. Following this darker Deadpool, the story sets him on the path of a possible redemption by opening up his story to the Multiverse.

While the story seemingly sets up Deadpool to aid this mystery dimension jumper, Wade’s trail of mass destruction and death could continue on a multiversal scale.

Not only does introducing the Multiverse in One Last Time create an opportunity for Deadpool to redeem himself from his previous atrocities, but it also allows the introduction of new, exciting variants of Marvel heroes and villains. Deadpool will be expanding his killing spree beyond his own universe and engaging in thrilling battles that take Deadpool’s fights to a whole new level of intensity. While the story seemingly sets up Deadpool to aid this mystery dimension jumper, Wade’s trail of mass destruction and death could continue on a Multiversal scale.

The continuation of Deadpool's purge on the Marvel Universe adds the potential for a more streamlined story by planting seeds for Deadpool’s possible redemption by protecting different Marvel universes. However, there is also the possibility that Deadpool will resume his bloodthirsty rampage on an even grander scale across the Marvel Universe. Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe took Deadpool's unpredictable nature and completely upends Marvel’s usually superhero status quo in an absurdly epic bloodbath, and now, Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time is set to complete this outrageously bold and darkly entertaining trilogy.
