Following recent rumors, Hollywood actor Norman Reedus has seemingly confirmed that Norman Reedus has previously mentioned Death Stranding 2 in ing, but the Walking Dead star seems to officially confirm the project's existence in a recent interview.

Following the conclusion of the Metal Gear series and his departure from Konami in 2015, Hideo Kojima reformed Kojima Productions as an independent studio. The team's first project was 2019's Death Stranding, a game which casts players as post-apocalyptic delivery man and Norman Reedus lookalike Sam Porter Bridges. While Metal Gear was known for tactical espionage action, Death Stranding puts a strong focus on environmental traversal while dissuading combat. Inventory management lets players optimize their cargo configuration, while obstacles like rocky terrain or flowing water must be circumvented using tools like ladders, ropes and vehicles. Two new Hideo Kojima games were teased by the auteur last year, and it seems that Death Stranding 2 may be one of those  projects.

In a recent interview with LEO (via Twitter  Nibellion), Norman Reedus seemingly confirms that he is working with Hideo Kojima on Death Stranding 2. When asked about his busy schedule, Reedus candidly talks about recently starting work on a sequel to Hideo Kojima's unique sci-fi adventure. The star explains how his involvement with the first game came about, and addresses the numerous awards won by the Kojima Productions project after launch. According to Reedus the success of Death Stranding led the team to begin working on a sequel just recently, so Death Stranding 2 is unlikely to release for quite some time.

While Death Stranding 2 seems to be officially confirmed by Norman Reedus, a virtual reality game from Hideo Kojima was also rumored earlier this year. Statements from Kojima himself indicate that his studio is working on two new titles: a large AAA game that will appeal to a wide audience, and a smaller and more unusual project. Rumors speculate that Kojima's niche title may be developed for PlayStation VR 2, since Sony's new virtual reality headset was announced back in January. Meanwhile, the director's big-budget game could be Death Stranding 2 or another yet-unannounced title.

Based on Norman Reedus' candid statements to LEO, it seems that Death Stranding 2 is officially confirmed. However, the Walking Dead star did say that work on the game began only recently, meaning fans probably won't be stepping back into the spiked boots of Sam Porter Bridges for quite some time. Even still, those hoping to see Death Stranding 2 are no doubt excited to see official confirmation of a follow-up to Hideo Kojima's strange delivery experience.
