The PC release of pushed back with no release date in sight due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, as remote work arrangements have lead to delays.

Like countless other companies, Kojima Productions has closed down temporarily. Employees are currently working from home to complete development on the PC port of Death Stranding, which was originally set for a June 2020 release. Death Stranding is the first game developed by Kojima Productions since Hideo Kojima's split from Konami. This highly cinematic experience was released for the PlayStation 4 on November 8th, 2019. The PC version of the game is currently available for pre-purchase on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Unlike most other games that are currently delayed, the Death Stranding PC port has a confirmed release date of July 14, 2020. A post from Kojima Productions's it will differ from the PS4 version. Higher frame-rate is expected, as long as the game's PS4-based engine is well optimized to PC.

The PC version of Death Stranding was originally announced just over a week before the PS4 version was released. This was likely Kojima's way of reassuring non-PS4 gamers that they too will have a chance to enjoy his latest creative efforts. Also, to commemorate the release of Death Stranding on PC, Kojima Productions announced an exclusive (and terrifying) hat for the player character, Sam "Porter" Bridges. PC players will be able to wear a fearsome headcrab from the Half-Life series. This comic relief is not very far-fetched for a Kojima game, as the Metal Gear Solid franchise often contains some bathroom humor among it's otherwise intense themes of life in combat and nuclear destruction.

As Death Stranding was designed specifically for the PlayStation 4, migrating the game to PC may not be as straightforward as it sounds. Kojima Productions has thanked PC gamers for their patience and during this strange time. As most delayed games are currently without a release date, it is reassuring to see that the Death Stranding PC port is still hanging on to its Summer 2020 release.
