Final Fantasy 14 Patch 5.55 includes three new mounts for players to acquire on their adventures: Al-iklil, the Magicked Card, and the Deinonychus. The Deinonychus, which actually existed in prehistoric times, is a relative of the smaller velociraptor. In Final Fantasy 14, the Deinonychus is a cousin to the raptors that inhabit Twelveswood. Native to the southern regions of Ilsabard, the Deinonychus has superior intelligence to raptors. These dinosaurs have been used in Final Fantasy’s warfare since ancient times. Here’s how to unlock the Deinonychus as a mount in Final Fantasy 14.
Final Fantasy 14: How to Unlock the Deinonychus Mount
To unlock the Deinonychus as a mount, players must acquire the Deinonychus Horn. The Deinonychus Horn can be found on the Market Board, however, they are currently being sold for over 10 million Gil. It is much more efficient earning the Deinonychus Horn rather than buying it from the Market Board. First, players must make their way toward Zadnor in order to access the Dalriada raid. Players must finish up the Save The Queen questline before they can explore the Zadnor region.
Once players are in Zadnor, head to the Dalriada raid. This raid is unlocked through the Save The Queen questline as well. Players are required to make their way through the raid, recommended for players over level 80, to defeat all the enemies. After the raid has been fully completed, a loot chest will spawn. There is a small chance the Deoninychus Horn will spawn in this chest. If players do not receive the Deinonychus Horn in the chest, they will need to go through the raid again to get another chance at the loot drop. However, since the drop rate is so low, players will probably need to complete the Dalriada raid quite a few times before they receive a Deoninychus Horn.
Once players find the Deinonychus Horn, they can finally summon the Deinonychus mount in Final Fantasy 14! The mount looks like large, black-and-white striped raptor. One of the coolest mounts in the game, the Deinonychus is well worth the effort it takes to unlock it. Collecting the absurd amount of Gil required to buy the Deinonychus on the Market Board just isn't as satisfying. Plus, when the Deinonychus is used as a flying mount, it flies using hidden tiny wings! Who doesn’t love a flying raptor?
