FromSoftware’s titles are known for being full of mysteries, and somehow Demon’s Souls has some secrets left to find. Who knows how long it will take fans to find these last few items, given how much they’ve already uncovered.

Demon’s Souls first launched in 2009, with the remake launching alongside the PS5 in November 2020. The remake was well-received, with critics praising its faithfulness to the original game presented with a graphical facelift. There’s a careful balance to be struck with remakes and remasters between making a game that is faithful to the original while taking the opportunity to improve on aspects that perhaps have not withstood the test of time well or that pale in comparison to modern games. Bluepoint Games seems to have done a bit extra with Demon’s Souls, though.

A report from send Demon’s Souls fans on a hunt to every previously-explored corner of the game to see what they could possibly have missed, as the community around FromSoftware’s games is particularly dedicated to unearthing every secret each game in the series has to offer.

Datamining is often how aspects of games get revealed first, with those who’ve jailbroken their consoles gaining access to game files and data most gamers will never see. Dataminers are always hard at work trying to figure out what’s coming next in of DLC or what’s hidden deep within a game’s code. They’ve already had a go at Elden Ring, the next FromSoftware game, revealing its character creation tools and some possible story spoilers from the game’s network test. While datamining doesn’t always turn up tangible results—oftentimes files are leftover from earlier versions of a game that will never actually see the light of day—sometimes they strike gold, as seems to be the case here. These missing items have names and functions, and so presumably can be found somewhere in Demon’s Souls.

While there’s been no official confirmation from Bluepoint Games that these items exist and can be found, fans will still seek them out. Part of the joy of FromSoftware Games is all the secrets hidden away, so this is sure to get gamers excited for a scavenger hunt. In just a few weeks, Elden Ring releases, and that game is also sure to be filled with things to discover. With FromSoftware, there’s no end to the depths of its games, even with remakes like Demon's Souls.
