Dataminers have discovered that the PlayStation 5 PlayStation's Remakes & Remasters Keep Making The Same MistakeAs reported by Eurogamer, dataminer and Twitter Lance McDonald has revealed that the Chieftain's Ring actually exists within the Demon's Souls remake files. The item is an urban legend among the soulslike community, with players spending years searching for the fabled ring which was allegedly sold by the bloodthirsty character Yurt should he be kept alive. The Chieftain's Ring never really existed in the original game, but Bluepoint has paid tribute to the mythic item by hiding it away in the files of the Demon's Souls remake. While a render of the ring has been created, Lance McDonald explains that it remains unclear whether the ring is actually hidden somewhere in-game, and where it may be found.

The Demon's Souls Remake Makes Myth A Reality

Alongside secrets like the hidden door and Chieftain's Ring, other new content was added to the Demon's Souls remake like a Respec system and Fracture Mode. The 2020 version of the title includes a far more robust character creation system, letting players craft truly unique and realistic heroes to control as they fight through Boletaria. A brand-new Respec system lets players go back and change their character, too. The mirrored Fracture Mode completely flips the game world, meanwhile, giving Demon's Souls veterans a way to experience the game like it's brand-new.

The Chieftain's Ring has been a Demon's Souls legend for years, but now the powerful item has actually been added to the game by Bluepoint. While fans have yet to find the item in-game, files suggest that it does exist and has an actual in-game model. This discovery is likely to motivate even deeper exploration of the Demon's Souls remake in hopes of discovering Boletaria's most infamous lost item.
