The Devil May Cry anime's April 3rd release date is fast approaching, and to celebrate, Netflix has released a new trailer. The trailer, published on Netflix Geeked's X , is set to Papa Roach's Last Resort, giving the trailer a pulsing energy as Dante cuts through waves of bad guys.
It seems as if one of the series' villains is on display in the trailer, as an anthropomorphic rabbit threatens Dante with some powerful dark magic. White Rabbit appears to be a powerful threat that will truly put Dante through the ringer. The biggest revelation, though, is the appearance of Dante's brother, Virgil. Virgil is one of the series' most important characters, so while his inclusion in the anime was a foregone conclusion, it is still glorious seeing him appear in the new trailer.
Netflix's New Devil May Cry Trailer Confirms Virgil & White Rabbit As Villains
One Of Dante's New Foes Is A Major Deep Cut
Virgil, of course, needs no introduction to fans of the franchise as he has played a major role in almost every Devil May Cry game. Though he isn't always the main antagonist of individual games and has even worked with his brother on occasion, it appears as though his role in Netflix's Devil May Cry anime will be far more on the antagonistic side. His appearance in the trailer is menacing, and coupling it with Dante's Devil Trigger transformation shows how Virgil will push Dante past his limits.

"One of the Best Shows on Netflix - Period": New Devil May Cry Anime Showrunner Hypes Up the Series After First Explosive Trailer
Netflix's new Devil May Cry anime has finally received a new trailer and release window with the showrunner further hyping up the series.
The other classic game character who makes an appearance is Devil May Cry 5 and made her debut in Devil May Cry 3. That's not the only connection to the franchise's third game, however, as White Rabbit is a character who stems from that game's manga spinoff. The spinoff is a bit of an odd entry in the franchise, as it features many references to Lewis Carol's classic Alice in Wonderland. Though White Rabbit takes an undeniably antagonistic role in the trailer, it's unclear why exactly he has it out for Dante.
Our Take On Netflix's New Devil May Cry Trailer
The Trailer Perfectly Captures Devil May Cry's Energy
Netflix's adaptations of Castlevania are both stellar, making smart changes to the source material that only serve to enhance the storytelling. That trend appears to be continuing with Netflix's Devil May Cry. Though characters like Virgil were pretty much a lock for appearing in the series, someone like Lady wasn't. Even more surprising is the usage of White Rabbit, a character even most diehard Devil May Cry fans probably aren't familiar with.
Netflix's anime production has been on point recently, with major exclusives like Delicious in Dungeon and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners earning critical and commercial acclaim. Devil May Cry continues that trend as the animation is incredible and there's a clear attention to detail that shows the people working hard on the series have a deep appreciation for the video game franchise. Fans should look forward to Devil May Cry when it streams on Netflix on April 3rd!
