One of the defining workplace comedies of the 2000s, 2006's The Devil Wears Prada also featured an illustrious cast of notable names and future icons. By far the biggest star in the Devil Wears Prada cast, Meryl Streep plays the demanding Miranda Priestly who serves as editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. Having already scored a slew of Oscar nominations before 2006, Streep continued that success when she won for her turn as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. Streep also notably starred in the musical comedy Into the Woods when she played The Witch, and she appeared as Violet Weston in August: Osage County. Blunt's career soared after The Devil Wears Prada, and she made an impact in roles such as Jane Liddle in Charlie Wilson's War before moving on to starring parts. Blunt played Elise Sellas in The Adjustment Bureau and Sara in Looper, but gained more notoriety when she played the Baker's Wife in Into the Woods alongside Streep.
