One of the defining workplace comedies of the 2000s, 2006's The Devil Wears Prada also featured an illustrious cast of notable names and future icons. Meryl Streep (Miranda Priestly)
By far the biggest star in the Devil Wears Prada cast, Meryl Streep plays the demanding Miranda Priestly who serves as editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. Having already scored a slew of Oscar nominations before 2006, Streep continued that success when she won for her turn as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. Streep also notably starred in the musical comedy Into the Woods when she played The Witch, and she appeared as Violet Weston in August: Osage County. The renowned actress turned heads as President Orlean in Don't Look Up, and will appear in the Only Murders in the Building season 3 cast as Loretta.
Anne Hathaway (Andrea "Andy" Sachs)
Anne Hathaway was a star-on-the-rise when she appeared in The Devil Wears Prada, and her turn as naive newcomer at Runway magazine Andy Sachs helped to propel her even further. Hathaway was nominated for an Oscar for her role as Kym in Rachel Getting Married, and she actually won the illustrious award for her starring role as Fantine in Les Misérables. Emily Blunt (Emily Charlton)
Played by Emily Blunt, Emily Charlton is Miranda's executive assistant who has a general disdain for others and can be counted on for an almost constant string of one-liners. Blunt's career soared after The Devil Wears Prada, and she made an impact in roles such as Jane Liddle in Charlie Wilson's War before moving on to starring parts. Blunt played Elise Sellas in The Adjustment Bureau and Sara in Looper, but gained more notoriety when she played the Baker's Wife in Into the Woods alongside Streep. Blunt appeared in the horror movie A Quiet Place alongside her husband John Krasinski, and reprised her role as Evelyn in its 2020 sequel.
Stanley Tucci (Nigel Kipling)
Working alongside Miranda for years, Nigel Kipling is her closest confidant at Runway magazine and offers sage advice to Andy. Character actor Stanley Tucci played Nigel in The Devil Wears Prada, and he followed it up with parts such as Paul Child in Julie & Julia (opposite Streep) and George Harvey in The Lovely Bones. Tucci co-starred as Mitchell Garabedian in the Oscar-winning film Spotlight, and appeared in the Hunger Games film series as Caesar Flickerman. On TV, Tucci also notably hosted the CNN food and travel show Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy. He also starred as Jefferson Grieff on Netflix's Inside Man and Bernard Orlick in Prime Video's Citadel.
Simon Baker (Christian Thompson)
Simon Baker appeared in the Devil Wears Prada cast as Christian Thompson, a respected journalist who makes moves on Andy even though she has a boyfriend. Shortly after he appeared in the film, Baker landed the lead role of Patrick Jane in the cast of The Mentalist, and starred in over 150 episodes of the procedural. Adrian Grenier (Nate Cooper)
Played in The Devil Wears Prada by Adrian Grenier, Nate Cooper is Andy's self-obsessed boyfriend whom she often clashes with over work conflicts. Though Grenier is perhaps best known for his turn as Nate, he also starred as Vincent Chase in the popular HBO series Entourage during and after The Devil Wears Prada, and reprised that role in the 2015 Entourage movie. Grenier continued his TV success when he played Nick Brewer in all eight episodes of the Netflix miniseries Clickbait.
Gisele Bündchen (Serena)
Appearing as a "clacker" named Serena, Gisele Bündchen plays a cameo role in The Devil Wears Prada as a long-time friend of Emily's. While best known for her modeling pursuits, Bündchen also lent her voice to a cartoon version of herself in the series Gisele & the Green Team, and she executive produced the documentary Kiss the Ground about "Regenerative Agriculture. The former Victoria's Secret Angel also starred in advertising campaigns for brands such as Chanel and Falabella.
Tracie Thoms (Lily)
Lily is Andrea's close friend from their college days who is constantly overworked by her job running an art gallery. Lily is played in The Devil Wears Prada by Tracie Thoms who followed up her success in that movie with a memorable turn as Kim Mathis in Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof. Thoms played the role of Teresa in the independent thriller film Raze, and co-starred as Desiree Scoville in the Apple TV Plus original series Truth Be Told. She also returned as Diane on Station 19 in 2023 to continue her long-running stint on the series.
Rich Sommer (Doug)
Played by Rich Sommer, Doug is a college friend of Andrea's who works in the city as a business analyst and harbors an extensive knowledge of fashion and Miranda Priestly. The Devil Wears Prada was Sommer's breakout movie role, but he quickly landed the long-running part of Harry Crane on AMC's award-winning series Mad Men. Sommer also starred as Wayne Mackey in the horror film Summer of 84 and appeared as Egil Krogh in the HBO historical dramedy series White House Plumbers.
Daniel Sunjata (James Holt)
Daniel Sunjata appears in the Devil Wears Prada cast as James Holt, an up-and-coming fashion designer. Sunjata his a prolific ing player, and he appeared in notable roles such as Captain Jones in The Dark Knight Rises, Powers in Gone, and Ranger in One for the Money. On TV, Sunjata is known for playing Franco Rivera in Rescue Me, a role he had before The Devil Wears Prada. He also starred as Cobb in The Stand, and played the recurring role of Mecca on Power Book II: Ghost.
