DeWanda Wise (She's Gotta Have It) dropped out of Captain Marvel's costume earlier this year thanks to some initial shooting, the film will finally start rolling cameras later this month. And when it does, potentially more set photos and plot information may arrive.
So far, it's already known that DeWanda Wise left Captain Marvel, in which she was presumably going to play Monica Rambeau - one of the many people who carried the name Captain Marvel, but she's had other names as well, such as Photon and Spectrum. Even though Wise is no longer slated to appear in the MCU, that doesn't mean she no longer wants to play a superhero.

In a recent post to Instagram (which CBR nabbed via screenshot), DeWanda Wise said that she's definitely interested in playing Storm in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but she knows that's not possible... yet. Take a look:
Disney announced plans to acquire 20th Century Fox for over $52 billion in stock this past December, but it's going to take some time before Fox's assets, particularly the X-Men and Fantastic Four, integrate into Disney's pre-established franchises such as the MCU. Plus, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige previously stated the Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 start up soon. The logistics of working in the X-Men and the Fantastic Four would be difficult at best. Not to mention, the deal most likely won't be finalized until next year. Until then, Alexandra Shipp will continue playing the weather-controlling mutant in Fox's X-Men franchise.
Of course, comic book fans would love to Marvel already cast Lashana Lynch in Wise's place shortly after her departure due to scheduling conflicts. For Wise's part, she seems perfectly happy to swap Captain Marvel for Storm.
