The first official trailer for gunshot wound at the end of New Blood), at large in New York City. In the trailer, Dexter meets Uma Thurman's mysterious character Charley, who introduces Dexter to Peter Dinklage's Leon Prater, a wealthy man with a particular interest in serial killers.

One notable scene at the beginning of the Dexter: Resurrection trailer involves original Dexter character Angel Batista (played by David Zayas) visiting Dexter in the hospital. This scene presumably happens not long after Dexter is shot by his son, Harrison Morgan, in the New Blood finale. While Angel did appear in some episodes of Dexter: New Blood, his character was very much a ing, nearly background character who had no real effect on the series. His early inclusion in the Dexter: Resurrection trailer, however, suggests that he will play more of an integral role in the second Dexter sequel series.

Dexter & Angel Officially Reunite In Dexter: Resurrection After New Blood's Missed Opportunity

Angel Returned Briefly In New Blood But Never Shared A Scene With Dexter

Many fans of the original Dexter series found it frustrating that Angel came back in Dexter: New Blood but didn't actually have any scenes with Dexter in the first sequel show. This frustration was exacerbated by the fact that Angel had heard and began to suspect that, after all those years, Dexter was the true Bay Harbor Butcher, not Sgt. Doakes from Dexter seasons 1 and 2, and there was no confrontation on the matter in New Blood. Frustrations mounted even further when Dexter was thought to have been killed off after just one season of New Blood before returning in Resurrection.

Dexter: Resurrection's Future Plans Are Worrying After Making The Same Mistake Twice In Earlier Shows

Dexter Resurrection must avoid making the same mistake that the original series and the first sequel series, Dexter: New Blood, made in their finales.

Now, with the new Dexter: Resurrection trailer confirming that Angel and Dexter will reunite in the hospital, all signs point to that long-awaited confrontation actually happening. In the trailer, Angel embraces Dexter in the hospital, saying, "It's like seeing a ghost," before revealing that Chief Angela Bishop, Dexter's girlfriend in New Blood, told Batista that Dexter is the true Bay Harbor Butcher. Dexter is then shown escaping from the hospital through a bathroom window before hopping into an SUV and fleeing to New York City. His Dark enger says to the audience sardonically, "So much for a happy reunion."

Why Does Angel Hug Dexter Instead Of Immediately Apprehending Him?

Angel Appears To Let Dexter Get Away At The Start Of Dexter: Resurrection

Dexter: Resurrection will have to immediately answer a few cliffhanger questions that have left New Blood audiences hanging for several years. Most importantly, Resurrection should clear up why Angel gives Dexter the benefit of the doubt and hugs him even after Chief Bishop tipped him off about Dexter's true identity. Obviously, Angel should have arrested Dexter the second he laid eyes on him. Additionally, the first scene of Dexter: Original Sin featured Dexter bleeding in the back of a speeding police vehicle. Resurrection should answer whether Angela drove him to the hospital and, if so, why she's not there when Angel arrives.

Angel warns Harrison that he is going down a dark path, suggesting that he may actually know all about Dexter's Dark enger and may be a guide to Harrison throughout Dexter: Resurrection.

Angel's involvement doesn't appear to stop at the initial hospital scene, as he is shown having a meaningful conversation with Harrison later on, who appears to be working as a bellhop at a luxurious hotel. Harrison is also shown dragging a dead body, suggesting that he will struggle to contain and master his Dark enger like his father has.

The details of Harrison and Dexter's relationship are sure to be fleshed out in Resurrection, since Dexter encouraged his son to shoot and kill him. However, Angel warns Harrison that he is going down a dark path, suggesting that he may actually know all about Dexter's Dark enger and may be a guide to Harrison throughout Dexter: Resurrection.
