With a remastered edition of the more popular Diablo II announced, it might be time to revisit the third entry in Blizzard's hack-and-slash series. Whether players want to pick up where they left off or start completely anew, the first thing they'll need to do is pick a class.
Diablo players have a well-seasoned cast of characters to choose from in Diablo III, no matter their preference. Whether they enjoy the hard and hearty warriors, stealthy ranged classes, or powerful magic-s, there's a character class to satisfy any adventurer's appetites. But just what kind of player do these vocations attract?
Barbarian: Action And Power
If players choose the Barbarian as their main class, they're looking to deal some damage up close and personal. Barbarians are fierce warriors with a taste for large weapons and hard-hitting attacks. Through the use of their physical might and fury, this fighter-class can rip and tear their way through the enemy hordes of any size.
Barbarians are fearless, and they don't let anything slow them down. Their mission is to strike hard and keep their enemies down. Players who pick them as their class are in it for the action and the carnage, and while they might not rely on magic or enchantments, their fury-fueled abilities can certainly decimate any group of monsters that gets in the way of their dungeon crawl.
Crusader: Might And Magic
If players can't decide whether to rely on a magic class or a warrior class, they should consider dawning the arms and armor of the Crusader. Armed with maces, flails, and other sharp medieval weaponry, Crusaders wield both might and magic (or wrath) to punish evil-doers and vanquish any demonic forces that halt their holy journeys.
Crusader players enjoy the best of both worlds and a sense of balance. They recognize that defeating the prime evil won't always work with will and weapons alone, but with a healthy dose of both. Warriors with a talent for light spells to combat the forces of darkness will always be a welcomed inclusion in any dungeon crawl, especially in a world of angels, demons, and Nephilim.
Demon Hunter: Strategic And Smart
Every good RPG needs to have some kind of range class for players who prefer to take on their targets from a distance. And in a world full of demons, zombies, and other unholy abominations crawling out of crypts, nests, and portals, it's certainly beneficial to have more than a few of these hooded rogues around.
If players choose the Demon Hunter, they're looking to play things safe and strategic. Relying on bombs, arrows, darts, and special moves that enhance speed and accuracy, they look to strike fast and make it count. Though they aren't afraid to get in close range, they'd rather be safe than sorry.
Monk: Fueled By Faith
Monks are players on a mission. Blessed by their deity of choice, they let their faith fuel them as they set out to slaughter demons and monsters with simple weaponry like daggers and staves. They also fit the healer or ing role in a group setting but with more offensive capabilities than other characters under that umbrella.
Monk players want to go the offensive route, but they also want to make it up close and personal. Strike hard, strike fast, no mercy. However, they aren't afraid to play with a group either. And their skills are matched only by their direct approach to a confrontation with a demon horde.
Necromancer: Commanding The Dead
For players looking to make a little black magic, the Necromancer has everything they're looking for. Playing as the Necromancer is the closest thing Diablo players can do to playing the villain. It's kind of hard to imagine one of the good guys summoning an army of undead minions to carry out their deeds.
The Necromancer is for players who like to sit back and watch the fireworks. Commanding the powers of the dead certainly gives one a little bit of a power trip, especially when they can terrify and curse their enemies. Players who enjoy this class like to take charge, but they also know how to plan ahead. It's always fun to dabble in a little darker magic, and the Necromancer gives that chance to players.
Wizard
The Wizard represents the classic mage-based class found across multiple dungeon-crawlers, but those expecting an old man with a beard and staff might be disappointed. Diablo III's wizard is no wizened sage but instead a powerhouse of arcane might that can shock, freeze, blast, and incinerate anything that gets in the way of his spells.
Wizards work smarter, not harder. Players who enjoy the masters of the arcane arts will definitely have no trouble holding their own. They know it's always wise to pick brains over brawn and that sometimes a little goes a long way.
