When players think about Diablo IV, one of the first elements of the game that might come to mind are dungeons, which hold the best loot for characters trying to get new gear and level up. Not all dungeons are created equal though, with some having better items inside than others. Since players are also able to unlock powerful Aspects for the Codex of Power by completing dungeons, some are better to discover throughout the game.
Aspects are ive traits that may be imprinted onto pieces of armor for an amount of Gold at the Occultist vendor in Kyovashad. Sometimes, players will find a Legendary piece of gear from a Stronghold or dungeon that they can strip the Aspect from in Diablo 4, but this process may only be done for one other item. Beating dungeons unlocks an Aspect permanently for players to put on as many items as they choose, with some being specific to a class or universal for all character types.
10 The Lost Archives
- Where to Find: In the Desolate Highlands of the Fractured Peaks
The Lost Archives are found from the first area players visit in Diablo 4's Prologue, directly southwest of Nevesk. This dungeon is a large one, an ancient library once used as a place of study for magic that has been long overrun with hordes of enemies.
While players might find it a bit tedious and larger than other dungeons, the amount of Elite enemies in here give players a good chance to gain powerful loot and tons of XP despite the challenging debuffs foes inflict here.
9 Serpent's Lair
- Where to Find: Blightmarsh in Hawezar
Incredibly useful for the Sorcerer due to a strong Aspect here, the Serpent's Lair is found in Hawezar near the southeast of the Ruins of Rakhat Keep: Inner Court Waypoint. Unlike The Lost Archives, this dungeon is perhaps the standard of what players will find along Sanctuary, with no major challenge but a fairly average amount of XP for enemies.
This dungeon has far more space than others in Diablo 4, making it a place where players can farm decent loot comfortably.
8 Maugan's Works
- Where to Find: In the Fethis Wetlands of Hawezar
Maugan's Works in Diablo 4 is in the northern section of Hawezar near the Vyeresz Waypoint, with an exploit that players can use to get tons of gear and XP. As of this time of writing, players are able to create an infinite XP farm by leaving the dungeon without completing its objectives.
Even if players fail to get this exploit to work, this dungeon has a ton of rooms and enemies to gather excellent loot.
7 Blind Burrows
- Where to Find: In the Fethis Wetlands of Hawezar
East of Zarbinzet, players will find the Blind Burrows dungeon, which features a collection of spiders and other plague infested horrors. The main reason why this dungeon stands out is its boss, the Broodguard, who can be very easy to beat with relatively slow attacks and only annoying poison pools for long-range damage. This makes the Blind Burrows in Diablo 4 a place where players are able to beat enemies quickly for gear and loot rewards fast when compared to different locations.
6 Aldurwood
- Where to Find: In the Shrouded Moors of Scosglen
The Aldurwood may not be what players looking for XP will want to visit, but those trying to gather loot should come to this place in the Shrouded Moors. Every time enemies respawn into this dungeon, three Elite monsters are guaranteed to show up, providing players with Rare or Legendary gear often in Diablo 4.
Players are recommended to leave the dungeon after defeating these enemies, as the boss here can be a tedious fight without as much reward.
5 Halls of the Damned
- Where to Find: Scouring Sands in Kehjistan
The Halls of the Damned dungeon not only has Elite enemies to farm for gear, but also one of the best Aspects in the game, the Aspect of Disobedience. When players imprint this Aspect onto a weapon, they gain increased Armor when dealing any form of damage.
This buff helps at any point of the game, but especially if players are looking to challenge Capstone Dungeons when attempting to reach higher difficulties like World Tier 3 in Diablo 4.
4 Dark Ravine
- Where to Find: Tuusma Rift in the Dry Steppes
Deep within the Dry Steppes, the Dark Ravine lies right next to Ked Bardu, but only after players finish a section of the main story. Out of all the dungeons listed, this one may have the largest numbers of Elite enemies out of any other location, giving players far more chances to grab good loot.
The Dark Ravine can be a long dungeon to explore in Diablo 4, so players should be focused and ready to use their mini-map when traveling here.
3 Champion's Demise
- Where to Find: In the Untamed Scarps of the Dry Steppes
Tons of basic enemies are crawling all around the Champion's Demise dungeon in Diablo 4, maybe holding the most variety for players to kill for an incredible amount of XP. With mini-bosses called Champions that must be defeated to summon the final boss of the dungeon, players can usually get at least one Legendary item from this place. In addition, Champion's Demise remains a great dungeon to explore more than once, without complicated paths making the area confusing.
2 The Forbidden City
- Where to Find: Sarkova in the Fractured Peaks
The Forbidden City can be a great dungeon to find in the early game of Diablo 4, found just north of the Fractured Peaks' Sarkova . Very close to the Menestad Waypoint, this dungeon always has a Greater Radiant Chest whenever it resets, a rare feature when compared to other locations.
Players may expect to always find good loot here, either through a new Legendary gear piece or enough Rare items to sell for a ton of Gold.
1 Mercy's Reach
- Where to Find: Sarkova in the Fractured Peaks
To the very northwest of the Fractured Peaks, players will find Mercy Reach, a place not too far away from the Firebreak Manor Waypoint. With a powerful Aspect for the Necromancer class, this dungeon has a good amount of everything: Elite enemies, various chests scattered around the area, and tons of basic enemies for XP farming.
The best loot dungeons in Diablo IV host nothing but rewards for a little challenge, giving players the right tools to build their characters further.
