Disenchanted’s new cast and returning character guide. A direct sequel to 2007’s hit musical fantasy Enchanted, Disenchanted picks up years after the events of the first film. While many of the main cast from Enchanted return for this Disney+ sequel, there are plenty of new characters who make their own mark on the franchise.
Disney+ has been sprucing up its library, leaning on sequels to beloved classics, including Hocus Pocus 2. Disenchanted comes 15 years after the original film, which saw Giselle of Andalasia get a big dose of reality when she lands in New York and realizes that life may not be the easy happily ever after she once expected it to be. Giselle is older and wiser in Disenchanted, but she still craves some of that good old fairy tale bliss. To bring the sequel’s story to life, the film, directed by Adam Shankman, introduces a plethora of new characters to interact with familiar ones.
