A Disney Dreamlight Valley fan got a fright when they opened their inventory and saw a bit more than they bargained for. Dreamlight Valley is usually a wholesome title that lets players interact with their favorite Disney characters in a town they design and customize. The game features faithful recreations of beloved Disney films and franchises, and a story that strings them all together into a cohesive narrative. Part of the game's charm is in meeting and befriending personalities that come to life through the Valley's vibrant community of NPCs.

Redditor Jay-birdi was not expecting to get a very up-close and personal view of one of these characters. They share a video that shows their character going about their day, walking through the valley when they stop to open their inventory. Moments before they do so, Elsa walks just barely into the frame at the bottom of the screen. Once the inventory opens up, the game glitches straight through Elsa's head, presenting the player with a horrific image of being half submerged in Elsa's face.

The image is unsettling, with Elsa's eyes appearing as black holes and her mouth looking like a toddler has tried to apply lipstick for the first time. Then the character shifts slightly, and her dark absence of eyes turns into perfectly round blue glowing orbs and the lower part of her face seems to fold in on itself. It's a terrifying look, enough to give anyone nightmares.

Elsa Is Usually Beautiful, But This Glitch Is Not A Good Look For Her

Needless to say, Elsa does not usually look like nightmare fuel. Disney Dreamlight Valley has beautiful renditions of its wide cast of lovable personalities, and Elsa, in particular, typically looks stunning with her flowing white locks and her large and expressive eyes. The character is one of the game's originals, present from the very beginning in the Frozen Realm of the base game, and a lot of care went into crafting her look.

Decorating the Frosted Heights in Disney Dreamlight Valley can seem like a challenge, but choosing the right options can make for a winter wonderland.

However, that doesn't make the momentary glimpse into the glitched soulless pits where her eyes should be any less disturbing. Most of the reactions to the video are torn between laughing at the terrible image and being creeped out by it. A fellow Dreamlight Valley player who goes by peachycrossing9 on Reddit calls the moment an "actual jumpscare." Meanwhile, Pinecone_Erleichda says they "Cannot stop laughing," with other Redditors responding that the scene gave them the giggles.

Our Take: Disney Dreamlight Valley Can Sometimes Be Hilarious

The Glitches Are Rare But Amusing

Disney obviously cares a lot about its cozy exploration and life sim, and whatever glitches or visual inconsistencies exist in the game are often quickly remedied. But some hiccups still make it through, as with any other large-scale game. For instance, Reddit SparkleWitch92 writes about a time "when Goofy glitched at the stall in Forgotten Hollow and his head twisted around." The Redditor adds that the experience scared them, since it was so out of place in the otherwise sweet and non-scary game.

Other times, visual glitches result in funny moments, like the time that Olaf's head accidentally became part of Ursula's body in a hilarious mashup of the two characters. Although glitches sometimes happen, this doesn't make fans love the game any less. Disney Dreamlight Valley is a delightful experience enjoyed by many, and players will continue to experience the magic, even if it means occasionally encountering a scary image that was never meant to be seen.
