Disney Dreamlight Valley's latest expansion, A Storybook Vale, brought a lot of new features to the game, but perhaps the biggest update is still yet to come with the addition of Floating Islands. Not only is this heavily requested feature part of a free update, meaning all players will gain access to it, but it will be even better than fans could've hoped.
The free Sew Delightful update to Disney Dreamlight Valley is launching on December 4th and will finally give players the chance to expand their home valley. Anyone who's ever looked up at the strange floating islands in the sky and wished they could take advantage of that extra space, is about to have a wish granted by Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Floating Islands Are The Biggest Base Game Update Yet
With A Constantly Growing Population, New Terrain Was A Necessity
Since Disney Dreamlight Valley's early-release launch, the available space in the valley has never changed. Unfortunately, what has changed is the population of villagers in the valley. With the addition of two to three new Disney Dreamlight Valley characters and their homes per major update, the valley quickly went from large and expansive to small and crowded. For this reason, new real estate in the valley has been one of the most endlessly requested updates.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Drops Hints For Next Star Path
Disney Dreamlight Valley has shared some hints for the next Star Path, and the guesses and predictions from fans are starting to roll in.
Although it's not coming exactly in the form of a new biome like players were originally hoping, the Floating Islands are still a huge deal. In total, the Sew Delightful update will bring four new Floating Islands to Disney Dreamlight Valley, each themed after a different biome. Even if the Floating Islands don't sound ideal when it comes to expanding in general, at the very least they can be used to declutter the valley and create some new spaces.
How To Prepare For The Floating Islands Update
Complete Some Main Story Quests & Stock Up On Dreamlight
Since the feature will be part of the free Sew Delightful update, there are no additional purchases necessary to access the Floating Islands. All players need to do is update their game on December 4th and the quest to unlock the first island will become available. That being said, there are some in-game requirements to unlock them, so booting up a new save file won't provide immediate access to them if you're thinking about starting all over.

The Storybook Vale Is The Expansion Disney Dreamlight Valley Needed
The Storybook Vale has only had its first of two parts released, but it’s a significant addition to the game, bringing a lot of much-needed content.
The associated quest, Islands In The Sky, will come from Merlin once the main story quest, What's Left Behind, has been completed. At that point, you'll begin a quest to unlock the Plaza-themed Floating Island, the first of four. From there, unlocking the three remaining islands will cost 15,000 Dreamlight each, so stocking up on Dreamlight and money for furniture in preparation for this update are good ideas as well.
Floating Islands Will Change Your Valley For The Better
More Space & New Item Limits Mean Decorating Possibilities Are Endless
A major concern for players when it comes to decorating has been the item limit, so many may be wondering how these new additions will continue to affect this. The short answer is that it won't. Each Floating Island will come with 130x130 squares of space that has its own decorating item limit, meaning it will not affect the overall valley limit. Although it's not a full solution to the main problem, it does mean that players who have maxed out their island will have something to decorate again.

"Merida Looks Great": Disney Dreamlight Valley Fan Shares Hilarious Post For People Complaining About Merida In Storybrook Vale
Disney Dreamlight Valley's latest expansion, Storybook Vale, introduces Merida from Brave, and she seems to be looking a bit unwell.
Additionally, despite the fact that the islands are hovering out of reach, players needn't worry about completely isolating any of their villagers. With the use of fast travel, players will be able to come and go as they please from each island using Wishing Wells and, despite a physical link to the mainland, villagers will still periodically pop up on islands to say hi. The Floating Islands will still feel like part of the overall valley rather than completely separate places.

Disney Dreamlight Valley's New Shop System Is Nice, But It Comes With A Major Flaw
Disney Dreamlight Valley’s recent Jungle Update changed how the Shop works, and its new convenience is overshadowed by one issue.
Whether they're used to banish some of the uglier villager homes from the mainland or as an ever-changing studio space for DreamSnaps, there's no doubt Floating Islands will have players completely overhauling their valley. Additionally, for those who have somewhat abandoned their base game valley in favor of the expansion islands, this may be just what Disney Dreamlight Valley needed to bring player attention back to where it all started.
