One of the most exciting reveals from the D23 Lorcana was Golden Mickey cards. Only 500 will exist. According to the developers on-stage, they were designed to feel like the "ultimate prize": according to the team, they look and feel like real gold.

Ryan Miller (Senior Brand Manager) revealed the Golden Mickey cards are so rare that not even the development team owns one: they can only be won, and no secret ones will be given out - except for one special Golden Mickey card which will be given to the Lorcana World Champion. This card is similar to the 500-run, with text reading "World Championship 2025" replacing the card moves. It's confirmed to be the only card if its type in existence, likely making it the rarest - and most expensive - card so far.

Championships are coming December (Disneyland Paris Resort) and January (Disneyland California Resort). Prices for rarer Lorcana cards, like Enchanted and promo cards, can already be very high, leaving only speculation for how much one of the 500-made Golden Mickeys may fetch on the market. The one-of-a-kind Champion card, on the other hand, will likely be priceless.

The D23 Disney Lorcana featured Ryan Miller (Senior Brand Manager), Brent Strong (Imagineering Creative Director), Steve Warner (Game Designer), Shane Hartley (Creative Director of Global Games) and Richelle Brady (Community and Engagement).

5 First Look At The Whole New World Promo Card

A Beautiful Promo Card Is Revealed

Keeping on the World Championships, the Lorcana team gave a first-look at one of the game's promo cards: "A Whole New World" (Song card). Pictured above, the card offers new artwork to the traditional First Chapter Steel card, complete with the promo logo at the base.

Again, this card is likely to be a highly-desirable piece for collectors. Not only is "A Whole New World" considered one of the most useful cards for gameplay, but it'll also only be available for attendees of the World Championships, as well as those competing. This means that - unless fans can attend in person and claim the card themselves - they'll likely be paying a high price on the market second-hand.

4 Disney Lorcana Quest: A New In-Person Event Type With Disney Parks Integration

Also announced at D23 is Quest, an in-development new method of organized play with a focus on social play, co-op, and multiplayer. Players will be able to experience Quest at in-store events, as well as at major event levels. According to the team, players can complete quests in order, which will unlock prizes. Information on Quest was sparse, but Richelle did tease there'll be a component of Quest that will involve characters at the Disney parks.

Although the team remained coy, it was confirmed that autograph-ready cards will be coming to Disney Lorcana, which players can have characters from the various Disney parks sign. These cards are both collectible and playable, and since character Cast all learn the signatures of the character they play, there should be a uniformity here for collectors, no matter which park's characters might be g.

Lorcana kept the reveals coming at D23 with cards from Set 6. The currently-nameless set will sport a nautical theme, with five cards being revealed early. As is now expected of Disney Lorcana, each card features unique and beautiful artwork.

The confirmed cards for the Disney Lorcana nautical set are as follows:

  • Daisy Duck - Pirate Captain
  • Minnie Mouse - Pirate Lookout
  • Goofy - Expert Shipwright
  • Mickey Mouse - Pirate Captain
  • Donald Duck - First Mate

2 New Movies & Characters: Rescue Rangers, The Black Cauldron & Pocahontas

Classic Disney Movies Are Making Their Lorcana Debut

D23 has confirmed plenty of new characters and movies making their way to Disney Lorcana. Pocahontas was revealed with some stunning concept art, confirmed to be ing the game in 2026. If that's too long to wait though, there's more to look forward to. Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers will be coming soon (presumably 2024), with The Black Cauldron to look forward to in 2025.

The Lorcana cards that have celebrated the often-overlooked Disney franchises, like the ill-fated Treasure Planet, have been some of the most popular for both players and collectors so far, as merchandise for these can be few and far between. 1985's The Black Cauldron is a particularly interesting choice for Lorcana, as it's one of the darker and less-celebrated Disney movies, especially when compared to the glaring popularity of more modern classics like Frozen.

1 Pixar Is Officially Coming To Disney Lorcana

Since Lorcana was first announced, fans have been wondering whether or not Pixar, Marvel, or Star Wars characters might one day be included in the game. While Marvel and Star Wars might be a little more difficult to envelop in the TCG's mystical lore, Pixar is 100% confirmed to be coming to Disney Lorcana in 2026.

Unfortunately, no movies or characters were confirmed alongside the announcement, though it's hard to imagine the likes of The Incredibles, Monsters Inc. and Toy Story won't be part of the initial line-up. With the Pixar release date still quite a while away, there's plenty of time to speculate over which characters will be the first to Disney Lorcana.
