Quick Links
The first set of the latest Disney Lorcana arc is Shimmering Skies, a more lighthearted set after the arc-ending Ursula's Return that preceded it. As usual, an Illumineer's Trove has been released for the set and features a host of goodies, including 8 booster packs, inside a collectible box. Releasing at the same time are new Lorebook card portfolios, which are perfect for collectors wanting to store their latest cards.
The Shimmering Skies set itself features over 200 cards, which has become fairly standard for a new Disney Lorcana set. Characters from Wreck-It Ralph, Moana, Frozen, and The Lion King make up a large portion of the cards, although Lorcana regulars like Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, and Maleficent all appear here, too. Overlooked Disney IPs like Brother Bear get a chance to shine here, and it's great to see multiple cards dedicated to Clarabelle Cow as well.
Everything In The Shimmering Skies Illumineer's Trove
Dinsey Lorcana Illumineer's Trove Contents Overview
The Illumineer's Trove for Shimmering Skies is made with collectors in mind, but it's also a great way to get multiple booster packs for deck-building. Those wanting to jump straight in with decks, though, will be better off grabbing one of the Shimmering Skies Starter Decks that are available now. For those interested in getting the latest Illumineer's Trove for Disney Lorcana, here's what's included this time around:
- 1 Storage box featuring artwork of Donald Duck, Kronk, Maui, and Vanellope von Schweetz
- 6 ink-themed card dividers
- 8 booster packs that each include 12 random cards
- 6 damage counter dice
- 1 Lore counter
It's not a bad haul, but here's holding out hope the booklets that were once included make a comeback eventually. The dividers are great for anyone who wants to use the storage box to hold their new Shimmering Skies cards, and the Lore counter is a helpful addition.

10 Disney Lorcana: Shimmering Skies Cards Worth The Most Money
Shimmering Skies adds plenty of new valuable cards to Disney Lorcana, and some of the Enchanted options are commanding incredibly high prices.
In of new cards, the new Sugar Rush cards from Wreck-It Ralph are definitely interesting. Multiple cards let the character challenge in the turn they're played, and the ink costs are all relatively low. Highlighted cards within the set also include "Elsa - The Fifth Spirit" and "Kronk - Head of Security." Of course, the booster packs are all luck-of-the-draw, so there's no guarantee someone will pull these cards. They all make nice assets to Disney Lorcana, though.
Disney Lorcana's Lorebook Card Portfolios Are Excellent
The Perfect Way To Store Shimmering Skies & Other Lorcana Cards
The timing also couldn't be more perfect since Disney Lorcana has released new Lorebook card portfolios around the same time as Shimmering Skies and can be purchased seperately. For review, I was sent two - one that features the Lorcana card logo on the cover, and another featuring characters from The First Chapter. The binders hold 252 cards, which means each portfolio can reasonably hold all or most of the cards of a single set.
As a collector, these are great. But the binders are an ideal size for carrying around, and they could easily be brought to tournaments or trading events. The big question with any card binder, however, is just how well it can keep cards from spilling out. I found the Lorebook card portfolios to be high quality and because they are side-loading, the cards stayed in. The Illumineer's Trove box is excellent for storage, but for those who prefer keeping their cards in binders or who may be skipping the Trove this time around, the Lorebook card portfolios are a great alternative.
Shimmering Skies Cards Are Promising For Disney Lorcana's Future
A Good Start To The New Arc
The only issue I have with the Illumineer's Trove is that it feels emptier when compared to the first Disney Lorcana releases or comparable items from MTG or Pokémon. I'm always thrilled with what's included, but it also feels like there's something missing. Regardless, as someone who collects Disney Lorcana, the Illumineer's Trove for Shimmering Skies is a nice new addition.
Disney Lorcana continues upping its game when it comes to artwork, and Shimmering Skies is no different. These new cards have some of the most beautiful artwork to date, and a year after its initial launch, the TCG continues throwing cards into the meta that can work well with older cards or invent new ways to take down opponents and quest for Lore. Shimmering Skies is a great start to the new arc, and I look forward to what's in store for Disney Lorcana next.
Both the Disney Lorcana Lorebook card portfolios and the Shimmering Skies Illumineer's Trove are available for purchase now. Copies were sent to Screen Rant for the purpose of this review.
