That's corporate speak for Disney believing its content was valuable enough that people would be willing to pay for the subscription, free trial or not. Of course, in the intervening years, Disney+ has since raised its plan prices. Disney+ dropped the free trial period from all markets and, at the time, it was an unusual move. Now, few streamers offer a free trial.

Disney+ was able to get away with it so early because of the niche it operates in. Disney+ is the best streaming platform for children, or at least that's the prevailing public opinion. Families with children will likely be g up for Disney+ no matter what, and even those who don't have children will know exactly what they're getting with a Disney+ subscription. A free trial was not likely going to convince any fence-sitters about subscribing.

Frustratingly, s are unable to subscribe annually for a discount with the Basic plan.

If a wants no ads, subscribing to the yearly plan is a way to save some money. Disney+ , which has no ads, is $15.99/month but $159.99/year, about a $32 value. s can also bundle Disney+ with Hulu, ESPN+, and/or Max as a way to save money if they are already subscribed to those other streamers.
