The Division 2 is finally headed for Coney Island in the third and final Year One episode - and why players will go there presents a perfect end for the first year of content. Fans of the series have been speculating about where the game would send them next. Now they have the answer to that question as well as some exciting stuff coming their way.

The Division 2 is set in a world in the not too distant future in which a genetically-engineered form of Smallpox has wreaked havoc on the nation. The game focuses on the effort to stop a civil war and restore Washington DC while fighting off various enemy factions. When the game released, Ubisoft promised a year of updates, all of which are free to anyone who owns the game. The third Episode seems to be the final installment of Year One content.

The Episode 3 update adds a new location - Coney Island - as well as a returning faction from the original game, The Cleaners. The update will add two color-changing Exotic weapon, the Khameleon SMG. In addition, it seems players may gain access to a flamethrower, The Cleaners' signature weapon. The trailer can be seen via YouTube:

Players will journey to Coney Island in an effort to find the scientist who can cure the virus - and like seemingly everything else when one first encounters it, he has been captured by Black Tusk. While the new update was initially expected to include the second raid, it was delayed and will be available sometime after the Episode 3 release. Episode 3 is due to come out sometime in February. Year One holders will get a one-week head start on the content. A Division 2 gear overhaul is expected to follow the Episode 3 update.

While the additional wait for the raid is disappointing, the  Episode 3 update promises a lot of spectacular content that is sure to keep players busy until it launches. The new exotic, while interesting, doesn't seem too impressive - but the promise of an additional specialization and an intriguing storyline are certainly enough to look forward to on their own. Perhaps the most exciting thing about the update, though, is the prospect of picking up a flamethrower and burning one's enemies to a crisp.
