In conjunction with Ubisoft Bucharest, developer Ubisoft Massive is presently working on an update for fresh game mode for The Division 2 back in March, offering little in the way of concrete details.

Such news came alongside word that in lieu of original content, players would have the opportunity to once more run through the offerings featured in the sequel's Year 2. The Warlords of New York expansion, which launched early in 2020, kicked off the second year of content releases for The Division 2. Year 2's first season arrived not too long thereafter, setting all Division Agents on a manhunt for rogue colleagues. Ubisoft Massive has since deployed three more seasons, a second raid known as Operation Iron Horse, and The Summit PvE mode. Fans now have yet another new mode to look forward to in the coming months.

Today, Ubisoft shared a few pieces of exciting news for The Division faithful. One note in particular reaffirmed plans to deploy a brand-new update in late 2021, which consist of an additional game mode and fresh methods for leveling agents. The revised leveling system should increase "build variety and viability," the publisher teased. Ubisoft Massive's production crew is leading the charge on these changes, with Ubisoft Bucharest serving in a role. At the time of writing, specific details about what all of the above may entail remains publicly unknown.

While the forthcoming arrival of additional content is always good, a bit of unfortunate news hides within this breakdown, too. Depending on when Ubisoft Massive deploys the next big patch, nearly a year will have ed between a new update and The Division 2's Year 2 Season 4 - the last major content drop that released in December 2020. Thus, fans of the live-service title will need to remain extra patient for a while longer.

The Division 2 hit store shelves for PC and consoles in the spring of 2019. To Ubisoft's chagrin, it didn't exactly set the world on fire, either. The crew at Ubisoft Massive worked tirelessly to remedy that throughout last year, but, as mentioned above, nothing substantial has taken place in-game for quite some time.
