The highly-anticipated Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance will kick-off Summer Games Fest 2021, with celebrities playing as the iconic D&D characters. Dark Alliance is being developed by Tuque Games and is expected to launch on June 22.
Dark Alliance is an action RPG set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting from D&D. The game follows the Companions of the Hall from the Legend of Drizzt novels, as they return to the frozen land of Icewind Dale in order to stop an army of monsters from acquiring a powerful magic artifact. Players will be able to team up with others online, while a local co-op option for Dark Alliance is set to arrive in a future update. It will be possible to drop in and out of games, in order to make the experience as smooth and unintrusive as possible.
Fans will get a chance to see the drop-in gameplay of Dark Alliance in action on June 10. Wizards of the Coast has revealed that Dark Alliance will kick-off Summer Games Fest 2021. The game will be played by Tuque Games founder Jeff Hattem, as well as Summer Games Gest host/producer Geoff Keighley on stream. They will be ed by actor/comedian Hannibal Buress and WWE superstar Ember Moon. The four of them will take on the role of Drizzt Do'Urden, Catti-brie, Bruenor Battlehammer, and Wulfgar, as they fight through armies of monsters.
It's unsurprising that Ember Moon is playing Dark Alliance, as she has cited Drizzt Do'Urden as the inspiration for her wrestling persona. Moon isn't the only WWE superstar who has been involved with D&D as an entire group of wrestlers has played on stream in the past. Moon was ed by Xavier Woods, Alexa Bliss, Tyler Breeze, and Dio Maddin, for a game that was played as part of D&D Live 2020.
The 2021 video game schedule is sparse for the remainder of the year, but many fans are expecting lots of new titles to be revealed during events like E3 2021 and Summer Games Fest. June is the only month that is stacked with titles, ahead of any new announcements that will be made over the next few weeks. Dark Alliance is set to be one of the biggest games of June and fans will have a chance to see the game in action two weeks ahead of its release.
Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance will be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on June 22, 2021.
