Wizards of the Coast has revealed that the next elemental Inner Planes.
The Feywild is the realm of faeries. The fey-type creatures that many players encounter originate from the Feywild and many of them arrive in the Material Plane through magical portals and summoning spells gone awry. The close proximity between the Feywild and the Material Plane means that faeries often interact with humans and other races, which has even led to half-fey beings. Elves and half-elves also share a strong connection with the fey, as they are both forest-dwellers and magic-s.
D&D players will soon have a chance to visit the Feywild and witnesses its wonders and horrors for themselves. Wizards of the Coast has announced The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, which is an adventure that is due to be released on September 21, 2021. No details about the adventure have been released so far, including its expected level range, but Wizards of the Coast has revealed the cover art for both versions of the book. The standard cover (seen above) was created by Tyler Jacobsen, and it depicts a circus that appears to be hosted in the Feywild. The alternate cover (seen below) was created by Hydro74, and it depicts a Displacer Beast.
Fans had already been speculating that a book about the Feywild was on the way. There was an Unearthed Arcana article in March that had playtest versions of the Rabbitfolk, Owlfolk, Fairy, and Hobgoblin of the Feywild lineages. The playtest content released in Unearthed Arcana articles in the past has often been a hint as to what is coming, as fans previously predicted that the Dhampir update meant that a Ravenloft book was coming. This turned out to be correct, as Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft released in May 2021.
Wizards of the Coast hasn't revealed many details about The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, but it has promised that more information will be announced at the D&D Live 2021, which will take place from July 16-17. The most recent D&D adventure book was Candlekeep Mysteries, which involved quests tied to books in a library. The Wild Beyond the Witchlight will take players outside of the reality they're used to, as the Seelie Court is waiting to devour those who dare get mixed up in fey politics.
The Wild Beyond the Witchlight will be released on September 21, 2021.
