Scarlet Witch has come a long way since Scarlet Witch and the Multiverse are now connected.

Despite not having a solo film, Wanda still had one of the richest character developments in the MCU. Once a HYDRA weapon is driven by revenge against Iron Man, Wanda steps up as a hero and became an Avenger after the death of her brother. She would then be at the center of the events of Captain America: Civil War, and one of the few characters who could go up against Thanos. However, after the events of WandaVision, the now-called Scarlet Witch could be heading down a troubled path.

More than seven years after Age of Ultron, Wanda will be forced to relieve the circumstances of the death of her brother as Doctor Strange 2 will feature an alternate version of the Ultron bots. Even though they are not the same version of Scarlet Witch’s worrying MCU character progression.

It wouldn’t be too far-fetched if Scarlet Witch's Phase 4 storyline led to her becoming a villain or an anti-hero, and fighting an enemy out of pure revenge can certainly help do so. Wanda is not only one of the MCU characters who has lost the most, she is also one of the most humans when it comes to how she deals with said losses. In many superhero stories, tragic events are sometimes used as a plot device only, but that’s a mistake the MCU is not repeating with Scarlet Witch. Both Avengers: Endgame and WandaVision offered a look at how powerful and dangerous one can become driven by loss and revenge, and that could now be intensified in Wanda’s story thanks to Doctor Strange 2’s Ultron bots.

The concept of the MCU's Multiverse offers the franchise infinite possibilities, including Wanda facing off against a version of Ultron bots years after Age of Ultron. Between the Darkhold and the Illuminati, Scarlet Witch will have a lot to deal with during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It remains to be seen how Wanda will come out of all those events: as a hero, an ambiguous character, or a full-fledged villain.
