Warning: Spoilers ahead for Doctor Who season 15, episode 7, "Wish World."After not being seen since Doctor Who season 14's finale, Susan Twist returns as Susan Triad in season 15's "Wish World," paying off a promise from her last appearance. end of 2024's "Empire of Death." Interestingly, her return in "Wish World" holds more meaning than it initially seems.
Susan Triad turned out to be Sutekh's Angels of Death, with a new version of Twist's character materializing in each location the TARDIS landed throughout Doctor Who season 14. The Doctor's defeat of the God of Death resulted in Susan Triad becoming nothing more than a regular human, and she remained part of the show's main canon. Her comeback in "Wish World" may seem confusing, but it actually makes perfect sense considering when we last saw her.
Why Susan Twist's Susan Triad Returns In Doctor Who Season 15
"Wish World" proves Susan Triad did stay on to help UNIT
"Wish World" shows a very different version of the Earth, with Conrad's (Jonah Hauer-King) view of an ideal human life projected onto the planet's population with the help of the God of Wishes. The episode allows Doctor Who's new UNIT team to also return, but as a retro insurance company rather than a line of defense against alien invasion. Everyone who worked at UNIT before Conrad's alterations appears in the company's new iteration, so the fact that Susan Twist is also there means she was being genuine about wanting to help out.
When Susan returns to human form in "Empire of Death" and is reassured by the Doctor that her life and family are real, Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) suggests UNIT could use Susan's brilliant, Sutekh-given mind.
When Susan returns to human form in "Empire of Death" and is reassured by the Doctor that her life and family are real, Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) suggests UNIT could use Susan's brilliant, Sutekh-given mind. Twist's character playfully responds, "Anything to help, I don't mind. I'll make the tea." Although Susan's UNIT duties pre- or post-Earth's transformation have yet to be revealed, Twist's return to the cast essentially confirms that Susan Triad's collaboration with UNIT wasn't just a hollow idea.
Susan Triad's Costume Has A Deeper Significance
"Wish World" could foreshadow Maestro's return
Twist appeared throughout Doctor Who season 14, and even popped up in the 60th anniversary episodes that preceded Gatwa's introduction. Versions of Susan Triad were present throughout time and space, and she either took various forms each time or, at the very least, was wearing a different costume. The outfit she's wearing in "Wish World" is the same one from season 14's "The Devil's Chord," which was set in 1963, and aligns roughly with Earth's new aesthetic. So, she is resuming her tea lady duties from Doctor Who's Beatles episode and also making good on her offer to UNIT.
Twist's character in "Wish World" isn't just dressed like the tea lady from "The Devil's Chord," but has also re-adopted the same persona as her 1963 iteration.
Twist's character in "Wish World" isn't just dressed like the tea lady from "The Devil's Chord," but has also re-adopted the same persona as her 1963 iteration. It could just be that this character design fits in with Conrad's changes to the world, but there could be another explanation. With Doctor Who's Pantheon clearly shaping up to be a huge part of season 15's finale, the tea lady costume could be a way of foreshadowing the villain's return from "The Devil's Chord."

6 Doctor Who Theories About Susan's Return

Played by Jinkx Monsoon, Neil Patrick Harris' Toymaker. Monsoon's character was immensely powerful, but defeated by Fifteen and Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) - as well as two of The Beatles. However, Pantheon Gods have already proven to be durable beings that are tricky to take down forever. Therefore, the Doctor Who season 15 finale, "The Reality War," could bring Maestro back for round two, among other once-fallen Pantheon .
