Jurassic World Dominion is headed to theaters and many might be wondering whether the film has a post-credits scene. The third installment in the Jurassic World franchise sees the return of director Colin Trevorrow, who handed the directing reins to J.A. Bayona. Co-written by Trevorrow and Emily Carmichael, Jurassic World Dominion closes out the story that began in Steven Spielberg’s iconic Jurassic Park.

Jurassic World Dominion is set four years following the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which essentially destroys Isla Nublar. With dinosaurs leaving the island behind and coexisting in the human world, Owen and Claire, along with the Jurassic Park — survivors Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm — must unite to stop something even more dangerous. Filming on Jurassic World Dominion began in early 2020, but was shut down at the start of the pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns. Production picked back up later that same year, but the film’s release date was delayed from June 2021 to June 2022.

Mid-credit and post-credits scenes are hit or miss, depending on the movie (and the franchise that it’s in). Not every film is going to have a teaser after the credits begin to roll, leaving audiences’ minds to ponder whatever the final moment in the film happens to be. And while Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom did actually include a post-credits scene hinting at what was to come in the third and final film, Jurassic World Dominion does not have an after credits scene or even a mid-credits scene. This is in line with the first Jurassic World, which also did not have a teaser scene at the end.

The decision not to include a post-credits scene in Jurassic World Dominion makes sense because it is the final movie in the franchise. Throwing in a teaser would have suggested there was more story to tell; it would have also caused speculation regarding the franchise’s future and if there could possibly be another sequel. Jurassic World Dominion is the conclusion to the entire Jurassic Park franchise — which includes six films — and an after-credits scene may not have added anything useful that the film already covered. All that said, viewers are encouraged to stick around for the credits, if only to appreciate how much work is put in to make a film like this one. Reading the names of the people involved with Jurassic World Dominion (outside of the cast and director) is a reminder that filmmaking is indeed a team effort.

Jurassic World Dominion officially wraps up the three decades-long story, uniting the old cast with the new to take on another dinosaur adventure. The films have evolved since the 1993 original released in theaters, introducing new dinosaurs and characters who are constantly faced with the safety and moral conundrums that exist now that dinosaurs are once again roaming the earth. And after audiences finish watching Jurassic World Dominion, they will understand why Trevorrow doesn’t include a post-credits scene.
