The Trap soundtrack is entirely original to the film, and it is all performed by Saleka Shyamalan as her character, Lady Raven. Using the shortened name, Saleka, the filmmaker's daughter, is an R&B singer-songwriter outside of her career in acting. Not only did she perform as a singer and pianist for the film, Saleka wrote fourteen original songs for the film, making it a true collaboration between father and daughter to bring Trap to life. So far, the track "Divine," featuring Kid Cudi, has been the most listened-to song from the movie on Spotify.

M. Night Shyamalan gave some insight into his thought process in an interview with ScreenRant, stating that he wanted the concert to feel like a real component of the movie. "It's a full-fledged concert everything, what's on the screens, choreography, costumes, everything, the sets, how they change all that stuff," he explains, and the effort for the process undoubtedly shows in the final product. The first two acts occurring at the concert are the movie's highlight, and a significant reason for that is the authenticity of the setting.

Saleka isn't new to music or even to creating music for film. The 28-year-old artist has her own original album, titled Seance, which was released on May 19, 2023, and can be found on various music platforms. She's released several singles since 2020, including tracks that were added to Seance and some that were used in other forms of media. Her single, "Remain," was used in the soundtrack for M. Night Shyamalan's movie Old, a horror thriller that was released in 2021. She's also opened for actual concerts for artists like Baby Rose, Summer Walker, and Boyz II Men.

She's also created tracks for the Apple TV+ original series Servant, a psychological thriller that ran for four seasons between 2019 and 2023. The series is once again produced by M. Night Shyamalan, who was the showrunner for all four seasons. Saleka's music for the show is compiled in an album titled Servant: Songs from the Attic, which contains seven original tracks. Several of her songs have been made into music videos, with four directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan and one directed by M. Night. She's a talented artist, and Trap offers her an exciting opportunity to demonstrate her chops.

In her teen years, she later wanted to write and compose her own music, shifting in the direction that would later become the Saleka stage name and the Seance album.

Saleka also adds that her work on Old and Servant was "sort of a test" for her in preparation for collaborating on a movie with her father. As for the 2024 movie, her piano playing ends up being a crucial plot point in the Trap ending. While Josh Hartnett is the film's lead, Saleka brings meaningful contributions to Trap as a budding singer-songwriter, even if she's playing a fictional character.
