Summary
- Donald Glover has acknowledged that he is too old to play Spider-Man in live-action.
- Glover's appearances as the Prowler in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hint at a live-action Miles Morales in the future.
- If a live-action Miles Morales movie happens, younger actors like Caleb McLaughlin, Miles Brown, and Dallas Dupree could be good choices.
Donald Glover has commented on whether he could play Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies, Spider-Man: Homecoming, in a small role as Aaron Davis. The character is the Prowler in Marvel Comics, with Glover's appearance teasing that his nephew, Miles Morales, also exists in the MCU.
Glover then returned as a fully realized version of the Prowler — presumably the same as his MCU character — in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The reveal was a surprise, as it was not only exciting due to Glover appearing in full Prowler costume, but also because the character showed up in live-action amid the animated Spider-Verse movie, interacting with Miles Morales and opening the door for live-action characters in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. While Glover is part of two Spider-Man movies as a villain, the actor has now commented on the idea of him playing a version of the hero instead.

Donald Glover's Comments On Playing Spider-Man Explained
Glover And Miles Morales Share A History
In Vanity Fair's Lie Detector Test, Glover addressed the possibility of him playing Spider-Man in live-action. The actor was first asked if he thought his cameo as Prowler in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was Sony's way of apologizing for not casting him as Spider-Man — Glover famously campaigned for the role before Andrew Garfield was cast as Peter Parker for The Amazing Spider-Man — to which he said, "No! I don't think they even thought about it." Glover then said he is "too old to be Spider-Man now." Check out the full quote below:
"No! I don't think they even thought about it. There's definitely going to be like a Miles Morales live-action eventually, and I think they're probably more concerned with me being Prowler in that or something like that. I'm too old to be Spider-Man now."
Glover has deep ties with Spider-Man and the Miles Morales version of the character. While Glover was not cast as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man, nor did he even audition for the role, he would partially serve as the inspiration for the creation of Miles Morales. Comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis has revealed that when he saw Glover wearing Spider-Man pajamas in Community, he realized that he was right about his plans to create Miles Morales. Glover then voiced Miles in the animated Ultimate Spider-Man series.
Why Miles Morales Needs To Be Young & Who Could Play Him In The MCU
There Are A Few Good Choices For Miles Morales
Glover is right; he is too old to play Miles Morales in live-action. The new Spider-Man has to be first introduced at a younger age, allowing Marvel or Sony to show audiences how different Miles' upbringing and transformation into Spider-Man was from Peter Parker's. If the live-action Miles movie happens in the MCU, making him younger and having Tom Holland's Peter Parker serve as a mentor to the new Spider-Man would be perfect. Stranger Things' Caleb McLaughlin and Arcane's Miles Brown are fan-favorites for Miles, but Cobra Kai's Dallas Dupree is a little closer to the Spider-Man's ideal age.
