DOOM: The Dark Ages may be a more linear experience than an RPG or even a shooter like Halo Infinite. However, that doesn't mean there aren't still secrets to find. In fact, most levels have numerous hidden areas containing upgrade materials or collectibles.
Although you can play through DOOM: The Dark Ages without seeking out all these secrets, they can be a big help. The upgrade materials in particular are helpful for making sure you have better weapons and can keep up with the ramping difficulty. Hidden Life Sigils will also give you the ability to recover immediately when you die without losing any progress by having to go back to a checkpoint.

How To Find All The Secrets In Hebeth
There are nine secrets in Hebeth, and since the level is more sprawling and less linear than the previous one, they can be a bit difficult to find. Typically, you can rely on your map to show you that these spaces exist, but actually finding all of them is a different matter. Below is a step-by-step breakdown of how to find each hidden area in Hebeth.
How To Find The First Secret Life Sigil
The first secret area in Hebeth is surprisingly similar to the first secret in DOOM: The Dark Ages' previous level. Once you've finished learning a new shield mechanic, you will enter a building where you need to clear a small room of enemies. Once you do, backtrack to the entrance of the room, and you'll find a blue circle painted on a damaged metal door. Shield charge through this door and you'll find a group of cultists.
Beyond the cultists, you'll find a hidden Life Sigil. This is the first secret area in the level, and doesn't offer much if you already have all three Sigils from the last level stored up. Still, if you're looking to get 100% completion of the level, you will need to find this secret room.
How To Find The Collectible Toy
The next secret in Hebeth is in the room directly after the one where you find the Life Sigil. You'll clear out a few enemies then walk up some stairs. At the top of the stairs, your quest marker will direct you to head left, but you'll want to turn right instead and double back behind a wall. Here you'll find some crates you can climb up and a hole you can jump down. At the bottom, you'll find a secret area where the hidden Collectible Toy is.
To get out, toss your shield at the metal fastener chaining the gate next to the Toy shut. This will bring you right back to the first floor of the room you initially started in. You can then head back upstairs and go back to following the quest marker.
How To Find The Codex
Continue following your quest marker, and you will soon head over a small bridge and into a room where you're forced to jump down to the first floor. After killing a few demons, you'll head through a doorway and see a gate on your right closed by a metal clasp that you can destroy with your shield throw. Before you do, turn around and head in the opposite direction towards a few crates.
Hop over the crates, and you'll find some friendly soldiers, seemingly hiding from the demons, surrounding a codex. This area itself didn't seem to count for me as a secret area, unless I missed the notification, but you'll want to grab the Codex if you're going for 100% level completion. Once done, you are free to head back to the gate and continue the level.
How To Find The First Hidden Gold
You can follow the quest marker for a little while after collecting the Codex. You may see some hidden areas on the map nearby, but don't worry about them yet. You can't actually get to them before advancing the level a bit more to get rid of some barriers. You'll want to be on the lookout for the next secret once you enter a room with high ceilings, a blue forcefield in front of you, and a large glowing blue tube to its right.
After fighting here, continue down the only open hallway in the room, which will eventually end and split in two directions. To your left, you'll see a damaged door with the typical blue circle paint marking a potential shield bash target. Ram through the door, and you will find a secret room with a nice stash of gold.
How To Find The Next Hidden Gold And Life Sigil
The next hidden area you'll find comes shortly after getting the new Accelerator weapon. Once you've defeated the enemies in the room and grabbed the gun, you'll enter a hallway with a large hologram of an Atlan helmet staring back at you. The quest marker directs you to the right, but you'll want to turn left instead.
Here you'll find a vent that you can shield charge through to enter the next secret area. Straight ahead you'll find some gold, and then back a bit and to the left you'll find a ramp up to a Life Sigil. Though there, there is another vent you can break to get back to the room where you got the Accelerator and move on with the level.
How To Find The Third Hidden Gold
After getting the Accelerator, you will be looped back into a hallway where you've been before, except it has now been repopulated by enemies. After you kill them, a red barrier that was previously present near where you entered will drop, and you can find some cultists there to kill as well as some ammo, health, and armor. However, the secret area here is actually just above the entrance to this area.
Before you enter to find the cultists, you'll see scratch marks on the wall to your right. Jump up to the scratch marks, and you'll climb into a vent with some hidden gold and a single weak enemy. This is an easy-to-miss secret area, but luckily you can see the gold on your map, so you know there's some way to go get it.
How To Find More Hidden Gold And Another Life Sigil
After a Point of No Return, you will exit the building you've been in for some time, and come to an outside area where an Atlan is battling a large demon in the background. After a few short fights, you'll come to an area where you see three pipes shooting out flames in front of a door with two ways to go. Head to the right, the path nearer the flames, and turn the corner. Before jumping down towards the Atlan and Demon, turn left, and you'll see scratch marks to climb up.
Up here, you'll find a small trail of gold leading to a metal latch that you can break with a shield throw. Jump through the newly created hole, and you'll find yourself in a small room across from the flaming pipes. In front of an opening, looking at the pipes, you'll see a valve that you can turn to shut them off. Burst out of this room by using a shield charge, and you'll now be able to enter the secret area that was guarded by the flames.
How To Find More Hidden Gold
The next secret area comes directly after leaving the pipe room, and is barely a secret at all. You'll get into a fight that puts up some red barriers that only go away once all the demons are dead. Once you've finished killing the demons, your quest marker will want you to move on, but you'll want to double back to where you entered the fight.
To your left, there is a door that was previously closed which is now open with a pile of gold sitting inside. I could see how you might easily walk past it after the fight, but it is still a lot more blatant than most secrets in DOOM: The Dark Ages. After grabbing the gold, you can follow the quest markers to your next Point of No Return.
How To Find The Golden Chest
Shortly after the Point of No Return, you will learn how to do a shield return jump across a gap. As soon as you land, you will see some fleshy growths surrounding a hole in the wall in front of you. Go inside the hole and follow the path upwards.
At the top of this path, you'll find a hidden golden chest. After breaking the chest, you can jump right back down to where you were. This secret is easy to find when you know to look for it, but you might easily walk past it the first time, because the hole doesn't look large enough to enter.
How To Find The Weapon Skin
The final secret in Hebeth is basically right after the golden chest. Climb up the scratch marks next to the shrine near the hole, then head back in the direction opposite the shrine once on the upper level. Your quest marker will want you to head to the right, but don't follow it.
You'll come across a few stacked crates leading up to scratch marks that you can use to climb into the vents. Head through the vents and drop to the lower level. Eventually, you will end up in a room with the weapon skin and a few enemies. There are no more Hebeth secrets, so as soon as you have this, you can move on to the next level in DOOM: The Dark Ages.
