The pistol is actually unobtainable in the game itself. The pistol is hidden deep within the code of the game and was removed due to it not fitting the face-paced action of Doom Eternal. I mean, the Doom Slayer begins the game with a shotgun as his starter weapon. It doesn't make much sense for him to revert back to a puny pistol. Although, there is a method to unlocking the pistol exclusively on the PC version of Doom Eternal, and this guide will help the player do it. This method requires Cheat Engine to complete.
Unlocking The Pistol in Doom Eternal
This method was discovered by Dave Oshry, founder of New Blood Interactive. To get the pistol in the game, the player will need to use the console commands on their PC. This may be intimidating to PC players who just boot up their titles and begin playing. To do it, they must input g_enablePistol 1. This is technically a mod since the pistol isn't available through normal means. Inputting this code will provide the Doom Slayer with a shiny, new pistol they can use to slaughter demons with.
Doom Eternal already comes along with a wide variety of weapons to use, some more devastating than others, so it makes sense for the pistol to not have a function in the game. Most likely, the pistol would have been a very early game item, potentially in place for where the shotgun is now in the game. The pistol though is fully functional and can be used in all the missions in the game. Even if it was still in the game to find, players won't use it often actually unlocking weapons like the BFG (Big Freaking Gun), a weapon so powerful it completely wipes the screen of every enemy. Doom Eternal prides itself on destroying demons in the most violent way possible.
