Although it will be a while before fans get any concrete gameplay footage of Dragon Age 4, there have been some sprinklings of gameplay and concept art that reveal details of the game that could potentially be huge. Such details could even reveal classes and powers.

While it may seem like fans are grasping at straws, the relationship between Dragon Age fans and developers is such that the fans are typically always onto something, and the developers are more than willing to leave hints for them to look into. Here are ten such hints that could very well reveal new classes and powers in the final game.

Magic Archer

Concept art of an archery mage in Dragon Age 4.

This character was all the rage during the last trailer, as fans had never seen an ability like this before. Their bow seems to be conjured of magic, and its projectiles are magic, yet it takes the form and function of a regular bow.

It would be a fascinating turn for the series to dabble in mixed-classes, since it hasn't strayed from the standard "Mage-Warrior-Rogue" formula thus far. And if it's anything like the Magick Archer class from Dragon's Dogma, there's no denying how overpowered and fun this class could be!

Antivan Crow

There have been multiple works of concept art dropped that portray Antivan Crows at work, and considering how heavily the most recent book ("Tevinter Nights") focuses on the shadowy group of assassins, it is more than likely that they will be a playable class.

There's a lot of potential here: the Crows are notoriously adept at getting the job done, so their version of an Assassin class would probably be full of more tricks than prior classes. As well as this, the lady shown above is frequently displayed with a murder of crows surrounding her - while this may just be a design choice, it could also mean that the Crows can summon familiars.

Grey Warden

In a Behind The Scenes video posted to YouTube, a new character is revealed via his voice actor. He seems to be a young man named Davrin who is more than likely d with the wardens—that is, if his battle cry is anything to go by.

Ever since the above concept art was released, there's been a lot of talk surrounding the possibility of a new playable Warden character in the game. This would be very refreshing, as there hasn't been an "official" Warden character since Dragon Age: Origins—Blackwall doesn't count, and Anders eventually abandoned the group.

Lord Of Fortune

The Executors at sea in Dragon Age

Introduced fairly recently, this faction is based out of Rivain, a nation in Thedas that has seen little to no representation in the games thus far aside from the inclusion of Isabela, one of the best companions from Dragon Age 2. This could very well change, however, as the Lords have been prominently featured in recent literature and concept art.

Skilled in the art of deception, a playable Lord would probably be something akin to a master thief with the ability to change their appearance and lie their way out of just about any situation. This might be the class for players who enjoy taking a charismatic and stealthy approach.

Magister

Tevinter has been the focal point of nearly every recent piece of Dragon Age content, from the very title of "Tevinter Nights" to the ending of Dragon Age: Inquisition. Therefore, it would only make sense that players will be able to make their character a Magister.

As part of the elite circles of Tevinter, Magisters are powerful mages both regarding skill and political prowess. This power can even extend to freely using "forbidden" magics such as blood magic, and, while this concept art might just be using a trick of the light, it might also display a character who's a bit drunk on the power of blood magic.

Mortalitasi

Concept art of what seems to be a Mortalitasi

On the other side of the map is Nevarra, a nation with a long and tumultuous history of dragon-slayers, blood rituals, and, most notably, the art of raising the dead. Thus far, the lore of the series implies that necromancy originated in Nevarra, and, since recent content from the developers features both Nevarra and the undead, it's very likely players will get to play as a Mortalitasi.

While Mage Inquisitors could choose to specialize in necromancy in Inquisition, which included some of the best abilities in the game, the Mortalitasi style of this niche magic is its truest form and indicative of the culture of necromancy in Nevarra. It could hold some interesting implications for the player's origins if they go decide to go down this route.

Undead Warrior

Speaking of interesting implications, there's a decent chance the player will get to play as an undead. Various concept art images show a skeletal figure walking amongst the companions, and, since one of "Tevinter Nights'" protagonists was also an undead, it's likely this character will be a companion, too.

Players will definitely get to indirectly play as an undead, with all the powers a cadaver-bound spirit might have. However, for fans of undead characters, there is a slim chance the main character could be undead, as well. This would definitely add a fresh element to the series, as it was already shown to be a popular option in the long RPG Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Elven Mage (SPOILERS)

Dragon Age Dalish Elf character

This game is first and foremost a story about Solas and his uprising which will permanently shape the world, with the elves playing center-stage in it all. As of "Tevinter Nights," it is already apparent that the "inherent" magic that runs through all elves will be a strong theme throughout this next game.

After all, Solas wants to restore the elves to their "former glory," something that involves tearing down the veil and restoring magic to all elves. It's very likely that whatever magic a player-made elf has will only grow as the game goes on, even if they choose not to play as a mage.

Qunari Operative

Perhaps the most intriguing faction to be included in the fourth Dragon Age title will be the Qunari, who could be from any walk of life in this next game.

Inquisition saw its Qunari protagonist as an outcast, one of the Tal-Vashoth. But, considering how the Qun is currently invading Thedas, there's a good chance the player Qunari will be an operative acting on behalf of the Arishok. This would especially bring some spice to the game's story, as the current Arishok is none other than Sten, one of the original main characters.

Gunslinger...?

Concept art of what seems to be a gun wielding character in Dragon Age 4

In a strange turn of events, when the above image was revealed, many were started to see a character wielding what appears to be a rifle of sorts. Fans were joking about putting guns in the game way before this concept art was shown, so now they are fervently scratching their heads.

At this point, there may as well be an actual gun in the game, since Varric's crossbow ("Bianca") essentially functions like a gun in both games he's in. Perhaps it will use Qunari "gaatlok," which is essentially Thedosian gunpowder—or maybe it's just fueled by magic? Either way, it will surely bring some ingenuity to the franchise!
