The 2020 Dragon Age and the person narrating it. Fans of the Dragon Age series should know exactly who narrated the trailer and the implications that come with it. Those who don’t know will soon find out - the new protagonist of Dragon Age might have friends and allies in high places.

Despite losing the 4 in its name, the fourth installment of the Dragon Age series looks to be a continuation of the Dragon Age story and sequel to Dragon Age: Inquisition. The indication of this is included not only in the newest Dragon Age trailer at this year’s Game Awards, but also the teaser from the 2018 Game Awards as well as the behind the scenes teaser trailer at Gamescom 2020, which features “The Dread Wolf” Solas, a former companion and party member from Dragon Age: Inquisition. Interestingly, it seems the narrator of the new Dragon Age trailer is also a party member from Dragon Age: Inquisition.

In the new Dragon Age trailer, the narrator teases the viewer in saying “We’ve got your back. I’ve got your back,” which implies the player will either encounter the narrator or have them as a party member in the new game. The term “we” can apply to several different things and people, including the Inquisitor, the protagonist of Dragon Age: Inquisition. Having the previous protagonist appear in the new Dragon Age game would continue the tradition of BioWare mentioning or involving protagonists from previous games.

Who Speaks In The Dragon Age 4 Trailer

Dragon Age 4 Varric

The narrator of the newest Dragon Age trailer is none other than Varric Tethras, dwarven rogue, acclaimed author, occasional unwelcomed tagalong, and companion in Dragon Age II and Dragon Age: Inquisition. Fans of the Dragon Age series likely knew straight away that Varric was the narrator, as he is used to narrate a lot of Dragon Age-related things. On the Dragon Age Keep, the website that allows players to change the default world state of their Dragon Age games, Varric is also the narrator. It is unknown if Varric will be a companion for a third time, as he is the Viscount, or leader, of his homeland Kirkwall. If the trailer is any indication of things to come, Varric will at least play a role in Dragon Age, should he not be a companion.

Varric may not be the only Dragon Age: Inquisition companion playing a role in the new Dragon Age game. There are rumors and theories that the new game will take place in the Tevinter Imperium, which could mean that players can possibly encounter Dorian Pavus. As far as the rest of the Inquisition goes, it is unknown who may officially make an appearance in the new game other than Solas.

BioWare may have had a couple of important staff departures, but it doesn’t look like the development of Dragon Age has been derailed. It is unknown how far long Dragon Age has come, but the new trailer can be seen as good news to fans. If Dragon Age becomes as beloved as the other games in the series, maybe it could be one of the best RPGs of the PS5 and Xbox Series generation.
