Vegeta to unlock the ever-elusive Super Saiyan 3 form after years of keeping it out of his grasp, but the series soon fell back on bad habits. Despite his recent gift, Vegeta is now facing another gauntlet. Netizens are concerned Vegeta's legacy is under attack once more, and it comes from a quiet place. A recent scene that brought Vegeta and Goku face-to-face with guns prompted this new debate, and Dragon Ball fans are not sure how to take the twist.
After all, there are two camps in the Dragon Ball fandom: Team Goku and Team Vegeta. For those on the latter team, they believe Dragon Ball has forced Vegeta into an embarrassing role, forcing him to keep one step behind Goku no matter how hard he tries, almost to the point where it's become a punchline. While Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta eased those accusations, they are now back in full swing, and we have some silly ray guns to thank for the drama.
Goku Never Needs Extra Help While Vegeta Relies on It
Vegeta vs Guns: Who Wins?
In Dragon Ball Daima episode 15, we see Goku's crew face off with an army carrying weaponry. The blonde Saiyan is hit first and consequently paralyzed by the Gendarmerie's effective ray guns before another shot explodes right in front of him. Despite this ambush, Goku is able to quickly regain control of his body and soon attacks, destroying a Gendarmerie ship with his power pole. Moments later, Vegeta s the offensive but is soon blasted out of the sky by a Gendarmerie ship whose lasers paralyze him same as Goku.
However, Vegeta is actually takien out by the blast. He is so hurt by the hit that he's forced to ask Goku for a Revive Bug, a treat that serves as the Demon Realm's own Senzu Beans. The two go on to fight, putting Goku and Vegeta back to back as they take on their foes. However, as some fans have suggested, the battle was a slight against Vegeta. With this battle, fans will only Goku was able to attack after being shot without needing any help, but Vegeta cannot say the same. He was left completely immobile after being shot and couldn't return to the battle until Goku gave him one of his Revive Bugs.
Dragon Ball Daima Is Consistent With the Anime's Treatment of Vegeta
Is Ultra Ego Vegeta's Greatest Failure?
Although a constant in the franchise, Vegeta's treatment by the anime stings. Dragon Ball Daima is following in the footsteps of Dragon Ball Super which upped the ante for Vegeta. To Vegeta's fans, one of the anime's most egregious slights against Vegeta is his history with Ultra Ego. The form, which is meant to be his Ultra Instinct, was dinged with a great failure in battle. Thanks ot the Moro arc, Ultra Ego Vegeta was taken down a peg, leaving his ultimate form to languish outside of the anime. Talk about rough, huh?
Ultra Ego fails numerous times against Vegeta's opponent Granola, prompting Vegeta is now determined to master is his own version of Ultra Instinct, but rather than claiming the form for himself, Vegeta is now taking ownership. Instead, the hero following in Goku's steps once more.
Of course, Dragon Ball Daima's slight against Vegeta feels less dramatic compared to the way Dragon Ball Super contributed to his particular issue. However, the slights still feel unnecessary. The problem is that Dragon Ball Daima sees Vegeta as a punchline albeit a lesser one than Yamcha. Given his legacy with fans, you can understand why the disrespect against Vegeta's name has become a touchy topic. After all this time and every wasted opportunity, it sadly feels like Vegeta is destined to be the tragic punchline in Goku's game even though the character deserves much more respect.
