Dragon Ball Super has seen many characters master new power recently, from Broly gaining control of his berserker state to Piccolo and Gohan developing new forms. That calls for a new evaluation of everyone's power, and the series' writer and artist, Toyotaro, has explained how he sees the power rankings now.
Dragon Ball Super volume 24 featured an epic cover which rapidly spread across the Dragon Ball fandom, showcasing Broly, Piccolo, Gohan, Goku, and Vegeta, all in their ultimate forms, looking incredibly tough together. With the Saiyan rumble that occurred back in chapters 102 and 103, it could easily be seen that Beast Gohan was able to hold his own against Ultra Instinct Goku, and even Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, but unfortunately Piccolo didn't get to participate in that particular brawl, leaving his power more in question. According to Toyotaro, though, there's nothing to worry about.
Dragon Ball Super Reveals a Five-Way Tie For Strongest
Dragon Ball Super Has Brought Several Characters Up to Goku's Level
In an interview on the official Dragon Ball website with Toyotaro, the artist said the following about the new cover illustration: "As I said before, I wanted to show that the power of these five people are the same, so I made this collage. I've tried my best to draw everything up to now, but I may not be able to make a cover such as this that takes so much time in the future. Also, we have Black Frieza in the background, and I'm concerned about his power growth." Thus, Toyotaro confirms that Piccolo, Gohan, Goku, Vegeta, and Broly are all operating at similar power levels.
Fans have definitely wondered how Orange Piccolo and Gohan Beast stack up against Goku and Vegeta's strongest forms since the movie debuted, but this is the first time there's been an official word suggesting that they're of equivalent power. It's an exciting development, as it suggests that Gohan and Piccolo have a role to play in the coming story arcs, rather than being relegated to the back lines, as has been the case in some previous Super story arcs.
What About Dragon Ball Super's New Threat, Black Frieza?
Black Frieza's Power May Sur Them All
Aside from the background, Black Frieza also makes an appearance on the back cover of volume 24, and his power level remains unknown. Frieza was already able to easily handle Goku and Vegeta in Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego, respectively--could it be that Black Frieza is as strong as all five of the heroes combined? It's certainly a terrifying thought for Dragon Ball fans, as Frieza with that kind of destructive power could be a substantial problem.
With it now confirmed that the Super Hero adaptation is over, and a new arc is primed to begin when Dragon Ball Super starts up again, fans can hopefully get to see these five heroes in action, putting the new power they've received to work in the service of defeating Frieza one last time. Given the tremendous strength of these five characters together, they'll definitely be able to defeat Frieza in Dragon Ball Super... right?
