Fans of the new Dragon Ball Super weekly anime is set to be announced between November and December of the same year, with a plausible release date in 2023. It is still unclear, however, if this is an actual sequel of the first season or the rumored Dragon Ball web anime project that, according to other unofficial sources such as DBSChronicles (@DBSChronicles), TOEI Animation is working on.

When Is The New Dragon Ball Super Anime Going To Be Announced?

There has been no official announcement yet regarding a new Dragon Ball Super anime, and it's important to that all the sources cited above are unofficial, even if they are usually very reliable. Many fans are speculating that the new season could be announced during Jump Festa 2023, taking place on December 17-18, but the event doesn't even have a Dragon Ball yet. At the moment, the only thing that can be surmised is that, if the new anime will be a direct continuation of the previous one, it will likely adapt the "Galactic Patrol Prisoner" arc from the manga, which focuses on the battle against the new villain, Moro.

Considering that Dragon Ball is still one of the most popular entertainment franchises in the world, this silence on an eventual new season of the anime feels unusual. The latest movie in the franchise, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, had a lukewarm reception at the time of release due to a lack of proper promotion (but has since picked up). It's impossible to say, at this stage, if the same thing is happening to the Dragon Ball Super anime or if the silence comes from the fact that, sadly, a new season of the anime is not in production as Shueisha prefers to focus on other projects at the moment.
