The Dragon Ball Z that introduced everything we love about the Dragon Ball series to this day. From mild-blowing transformations to awe-inspiring fights — there's no end to the sheer number of ways in which Dragon Ball Z has consistently wowed fans from all over the world.
In fact, Dragon Ball Z can be lauded immensely just for introducing one iconic character, who has pretty much become a series staple at this point — Vegeta, the Prince of all Saiyans. His character has some of the most complex and engaging development throughout the entire series, including a bevy of transformations that he accesses over the course of the series.
Keeping this mind, here's a look at ten of the best transformations that Vegeta has gone through across the entire series.
Great Ape
The first time Vegeta evolves in the series comes from an artificial moon that allows him to become a Great Ape and attain an edge over his nemesis, Kakarot.
Watching Vegeta transform into the Great Ape of legend is an amazing thing to witness, and showed just how powerful this fighter actually was when given the chance.
Super Saiyan
Watching Vegeta struggle to come to with the fact that a lowly warrior achieved the Super Saiyan form before he was hard to watch for the audience, so it was a great moment for the viewers and the character himself when his brutal training finally allowed him to become a Super Saiyan.
His transformation during the Android Saga is quite cathartic and showed that no Saiyan in the series would ever be dealt a bad hand.
Majin Vegeta
Try as he might, Vegeta couldn't just forget the fact that he used to be the Prince of all Saiyans and one of the most powerful individuals in the world. Pride is a deceitful mistress, and Vegeta could never shake it off even after settling down on Earth with a wife and kid.
So, in a bid to regain his former glory, Vegeta decided to take Babidi's help to bring back the latent evil in him, becoming Majin Vegeta in the process. It's a sharp u-turn from what the character was built up to be, but it certainly made sense in the grand scheme of things.
Vegito
After regaining his sense of logic and sacrificing himself to save all of humanity from Majin Buu's wrath, Vegeta again found himself on the side of good as he tried to fight Super Buu alongside Goku. However, their individual strength simply wasn't enough to take care of such a massive threat, and both Saiyans had to fuse to stand a chance.
The end result was the first canon appearance of Vegito, who was instantly beloved by the entire fanbase for his amazing on-screen presence itself. Watching this character reappear in Dragon Ball Super was an absolute treat to witness.
Super Saiyan 2 Rage
The fact that Vegeta never reached the Super Saiyan 3 form is something that still rubs fans the wrong way... but perhaps the Prince of all Saiyans doesn't really need to achieve this milestone. After all, he already sured this state as a Super Saiyan 2 in Battle of the Gods.
This moment comes when Beerus smacks Bulma in front of Vegeta. This rubs the Prince of all Saiyans the wrong way, who transforms in a fit of rage into a Super Saiyan 2 form that even sured Goku's Super Saiyan 3 form in of raw power!
Super Saiyan God
For the longest time, the anime never revealed Vegeta's Super Saiyan God form, preferring to jump to the Super Saiyan Blue form instead. This was in stark contrast to the manga, where Vegeta does showcase his red-haired form during the Future Trunks arc.
Thankfully, we finally caught a glimpse of Vegeta's Super Saiyan God form during Dragon Ball Super: Broly, which was as amazing as one might've expected.
Super Saiyan Blue
Speaking of Dragon Ball Super, it must be said that Vegeta seemed poised to always take a backseat to Goku's adventures in this new series. Thankfully, the reveal of Vegeta's Super Saiyan Blue form revealed that this would hardly be the case.
Watching Vegeta whip out this fight in his fight against Golden Frieza was proof enough of the fact that both Saiyans would play a pivotal role in this series.
Super Saiyan Blue Evolved
Vegeta might not have had the ability to use the Kaio-Ken form, but this never really posed as too much of a problem when it came to reaching a new height of power.
His need to reach a new level of power on his own was finally realized during the Tournament of Power arc. During a confrontation with Jiren, Vegeta ascended to a new level in his Super Saiyan Blue form and finally became on par with Goku in his Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-Ken form.
Gogeta
Gogeta had appeared once before in Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn, but this appearance was never really considered to be canon. This all changed with Dragon Ball Super: Broly, which marked the first canon appearance of Gogeta in the series.
Watching Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta lay down the smackdown on Broly was one of the best moments in the entire franchise by a country mile.
Super Saiyan 4
While Vegeta might not have had that many moments to shine in Dragon Ball GT, there's no denying the fact that watching him ascend to become a Super Saiyan 4 was still a great moment in every sense of the word.
This, coupled with his fusion with Goku to become Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, is easily one of the biggest highlights of GT and goes to show that Vegeta will never let himself be complacent when it comes to the search for greater power.
