The criminally underrated Netflix original, The Dragon Prince, has been airing since 2018. Though it hasn't reached the heights of fantasy classics like Avatar: The Last Airbender, it deserves a bigger following. The Dragon Prince chronicles the story of the two young princes, Callum and Ezran, and the Moonshadow Elf Rayla as they attempt to bring peace to the warring nations of Xadia. When the trio comes into possession of the dragon egg that will hatch and become the titular dragon prince, they band together and set off on an epic quest to save the world.
The Dragon Prince isn't similar to Dungeons & Dragons because they both use dragons, but because of the scale and intricacies of their worlds. D&D fans will appreciate the different cultures and magics within The Dragon Prince and the serialized nature of the story. Although is ending with season 7, it's not too late to get into the series and enjoy the thoughtful evolution of the characters, story, and themes that have occurred throughout the installment. While The Dragon Prince began with lower stakes and less mature topics, it's only grown in complexity since season 1.
