Every character in your Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake party needs strong equipment to grow stronger, but the best gear for each Vocation class varies. Nearly every piece of equipment is restricted to which archetypes can use it. Some items may have strong effects that a Vocation's strengths, while another may simply be the greatest buff to that class' offense or defense.
One party member is capable of wielding five pieces of equipment - Weapons, Armor, Shields, Helmets, and Accessories. You can only have one item of each type equipped to a single character at a time, giving you limits on your party's customization. Depending on which Vocations in DQ3 Remake you have on your team, you have a chance to use specific equipment restricted to the classes you've recruited.
Best Equipment For Every Class In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake
Pick Strong Gear For Each Vocation
Weapons are equipment that boost a character's Strength stat adding its attacking power. Similarly, Armor, Shields, and Helmets use their defensive power to boost a character's Resilience, or the stat tied to their protection from enemy damage. This is not to be confused with Stamina, the stat tied to a party member's max HP.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake: Best Multiclass Vocations
In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, players can multiclass any of their party into new and exciting Vocations for strong ability combos.
Accessories are extra pieces of equipment with unique effects that also raise other stats for a character. For example, one Accessory may raise a character's Wisdom, while another buffs their Agility. The combination of unique weapons in DQ3 Remake along with other equipment are what creates powerful builds for a character of a certain Vocation class.
Some equipment can only be used on a character with a specific appearance. For example, the Party Dress Armor only works on Thief and Gadabout characters who also have Appearance B. For this guide, the equipment included will only be ones that can be worn by any character, regardless of appearance.
Here are the best pieces of equipment for every class, including that gear's stat boosts and any other unique effect that comes with it:

Many different weapons have effects that only activate under certain conditions, such as how Zombiesbane only deals extra damage when used against zombie enemies. While the Destructiball is arguably one of the best weapons in DQ3 Remake, it should mainly be used by Vocations that specialize in raw damage. Other tools are better for classes who need extra magic, or Vocations who are better at hitting multiple targets.
Best Armor For Each Class

Many of the same Armor types are good for multiple Vocations, especially the Dragon Robe and Dark Robe. While items like the Blessed Bikini and Shimmering Dress have higher defensive power, these items are restricted to characters of Appearance B only. Since you have no inventory limit in DQ3 Remake, it'll be easier to share armor among teammates as you try to find the strongest party combos.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Review: A New Classic Of An Old Classic
Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake successfully introduces a new generation to one of the best RPGs of all time, along with a host of improvements.
Shields are mainly a way for classes to boost their defense, as most have no additional abilities. However, the ones that do can be extremely strong, such as the Hero's Shield reducing damage from fire and ice magic. You can sacrifice defensive stat boosts for some basic effects from other Shields, but that depends on how comfortable you are with removing some protections from different classes.
Best Helmets For Each Class
Vocation |
Helmet |

The Phantom Mask is likely the best Helmet in the game for multiple classes, but those looking to fill out their party with other gear can consider the Mythril Helm as well. Another strong Helmet not seen here is the Mask of Implacability, which gives a character an astounding 255 points to their defense. However, it is impossible to label this item as the "best," as it also causes anyone who wears it to always have the Confused status.

Many Accessories also change a character's Personality when they are equipped. Personalities in DQ3 Remake determine how fast certain stats on a party member level up as they grow over time. To give an example, a character with the "Contrarian" Personality has a Stat Growth Rating of "A" for their Luck, meaning that their Luck stat will be boosted more than other traits as they level up.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake: Best Personality For Every Vocation
When you recruit characters in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, they are given a random personality, but some are better for specific Vocation classes.
The strongest tools and items for your party completely depend on who you have gathered together. Some Vocations' best equipment in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake can't be used alongside another class that needs an item more, so feel free to experiment with everything you collect in your adventure to find the right combinations.
