In recruiting new characters at Patty's Party Planning Place.
Metal Slimes have incredibly high Agility, which means that they have high priority to go first during combat. They are resistant to most Spells and Abilities, outside of ones that deal normal Physical damage. They also flee quite often, which can lead to frustration if the player does not know how to adequately deal with them.
Where To Farm Metal Slimes
Various Spawn Locations
There are many places to farm Metal Slimes in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, but they are few and far between until you reach the endgame. The first place the player will encounter Metal Slimes is in the Tower of Transcendence, but this is a far cry from the best place to farm, as Liquid Metal Slimes do not appear. Liquid Metal Slimes give over 10x the amount of exp as regular Metal Slimes, so in order to maximize farming efficiency, players should focus on finding Liquid Metal Slimes.
The first and earliest place to find Liquid Metal Slimes is outside the Teleportal Shrine. However, they will only appear at night, and they have quite a low spawn rate, so it is not the greatest spot to farm for their encounters.
Liquid Metal Slimes also appear in the Maw of the Necrogond and Baramos' Lair dungeons, but will spawn alongside strong enemies that require the player's attention. And, given that Metal Slimes often flee incredibly quickly, this hinders the player's ability to strike them down swiftly. In order to reach the best places for Liquid Metal Slime farming, players will need to use the Everbird to fly to a Slime Hill, which spawns nothing but various kinds of Slime enemies.
How To Get To The Best Metal Slime Farm
Fly With The Everbird To Slime Hills
The best place to find Liquid Metal Slimes is near the Tower of Transcendence. Take off with the Everbird and fly northwest until you over the mountains into the dense forest region. The Slime Hill is just north of the mountains and can only be accessed via the Everbird, so land on it and hop off. Then, run around the hill and wait for battle encounters with Liquid Metal Slimes.
I recommend running away from any battles that don't have any Metal Slime or Liquid Metal Slime enemies.
There is also another Slime Hill on the west side of the continent of Aliahan that can only be accessed by the Everbird. Start outside the Dreamer's Tower and fly to the northwest into the rocky region of the island. The plateau with a secret area on it is the other Slime Hill. This secret area also contains a Mini Medal, a pair of Elevating Shoes, and an Elysium Bird Monster to recruit.
Fastest Way To Farm Metal Slimes
Critical Hits & OHKO Moves
Because Liquid Metal Slimes and Metal Slimes have incredibly high Agility and flee very quickly during a battle, taking them out efficiently requires speed and precision. Some Vocations get attacks that are one-hit KO moves and some can guarantee Critical Hits, both of which will instantly defeat Liquid Metal Slimes and Metal Slimes. Some weapons with unique effects, such as the Demon Spear, can instantly kill enemies. The Puff! spell from the Mage and Sage Vocations takes a turn to set up its damage, but will instantly slay any Metal Slimes that haven't fled by the second turn.

The Accelerate Spell can be used to increase the party's Agility in order to possibly outpace Metal Slimes on the second turn, guaranteeing more exp by having characters with OHKO moves go first. I have found the most success by giving my Sage the Meteorite Bracer to have them Accelerate the party immediately, which often gives enough Agility to my Martial Artist to land a Critical Claim before any Metal Slimes have fled. I also changed my Martial Artist's Vocation to Monster Wrangler, which means they can buff themselves with Wild Side to use Critical Claim twice in one turn.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake: Best Multiclass Vocations
In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, players can multiclass any of their party into new and exciting Vocations for strong ability combos.
Some party compositions will have more trouble farming Metal Slimes than others, but most players should have the Vocations they need in order to grind levels in an efficient way. Farming Metal Slimes is the perfect way to circumvent the downside of changing a character's Vocation, as they can reach the level they were before in quite a short amount of time. As such, I recommend not shying away from changing Vocations, as players can always find Metal Slimes in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake.
