Vocations are Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake classes that you can choose for potential party , but anyone you hire also has a unique personality. A character's disposition determines how easy or difficult it is to grow a particular stat as they level up. Some classes are made stronger with the growth of specific stats, so you want synergy between someone's personality and their chosen Vocation.
Personalities each affect the Stat Growth Rating of a character's traits, which includes their Strength, Resilience, Agility, Stamina, Wisdom, and Luck. Stat Growth Ratings are determined on a scale from H, G, F, E, D, C, B, A, S, and SS. If a stat has an H, it increases extremely slowly as a character levels up, but an SS score for that trait would cause it to grow incredibly quickly.
45 total Personalities are in the game, with one determined randomly when you recruit characters in DQ3 Remake. The moment you hire a new character after picking their class, appearance, and Seed Allowance, a personality is assigned to them.

Only one Personality, Lucky Devil, has an SS Growth Rating in DQ3 Remake that you could get. This is perfect for the Gadabout class, whose entire focus is centered around using Luck to either do mass AoE damage to enemies with higher Crit chances or heal your entire party. During most combats, Gadabouts are jesters who "goof off" rather than doing anything substantial, so their usefulness is tied to how high their Luck is.

Where To Find The Thief's Key In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake
The Thief's Key is an important item that allows you to open all red doors in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, so it is something you should find quickly.
The remaining stats are all average, with a small boost in a Gadabout's Agility growth to make them faster in battle. Most of the time, you may only use a Gadabout to create a Sage character at Level 20, but grinding to that point can be somewhat difficult. With this Personality, you will have an extremely Lucky Gadabout whose abilities activate more often, allowing you to level them up faster to evolve into a Sage.

The Ironclad Personality is the best for the Warrior, whose ability to wield almost any melee weapon in the game makes them a versatile offensive force in your party. Warriors are physical damage dealers and tanks within your group. Characters of this Vocation in DQ3 Remake can have their damage boosted as their Strength grows faster with the Ironclad Personality, as well as their defense with faster-growing Resilience.
If you do not initially get the Personality you want on a character when you hire them as a party member, you can use some Accessory items to change it.
The only drawback of this Personality is the lack of speed your Warrior character will have as they level up. Thankfully, this is made better with a rapidly growing Stamina, which will help the Warrior have higher maximum HP as they level up. This combines well with the very high boosts to Resilience over time, which will make your Warrior the perfect tank to endure for the rest of your party.

One of the easiest Personalities you'll want for a Thief character is Bat Out of Hell, whose biggest Stat Growth is tied to Agility. Every other stat from this Personality grows normally, except for a slightly slower Resilience growth. The "S" rank in Agility's Growth Rating gives a potential Thief the ability to always go first during combat, giving them a specialization that can help your team.
Speed can be crucial to a Thief's strengths, especially if you want to steal an item from a foe you encounter. It's better to steal an item first before the rest of your team goes, as doing that action first allows the rest of your team to spend their time eliminating the enemy afterward. Having high Agility will allow a Thief's speed to increase faster as they grow, allowing you to do this strategy more often.
7 Mage - Genius

The Genius Personality is great for the Mage Vocation, whose class is present in many strong party combos in DQ3 Remake. Magic and spellcasting are tied to spending MP, which grows over time concerning a character's Wisdom stat. With the Growth Rating of the Genius' Wisdom, your Mage's MP will become much larger than any other characters, giving you the potential to cast tons of magic before running out.
Having a Mage with high Agility growth also means you'll have a spellcaster in your party whose turn is earlier in battle.
Wisdom also determines a character's damage with magic, affecting how punishing certain attacks can be. Although you have to factor in enemy weaknesses against certain elements for damage too, having a high Wisdom will lower the floor of your minimal damage for any spell. The rapid growth of Wisdom through the Genius Personality gives your Mage the means to have strong magic damage always at their disposal.

The only new Vocation added to DQ3 Remake is the Monster Wrangler, whose class can be much stronger when paired with the Lone Wolf Personality. Monster Wranglers can fulfill multiple roles within a party, as damage dealers or wielders of basic magic. However, their true strength lies in how they can recruit various monsters you encounter to your side throughout your team's adventures.
Stamina arguably becomes a very important trait for the Monster Wrangler, as the extra growth to that stat increases max HP faster. With above-average Growth Ratings for Strength, Resilience, Agility, and Wisdom, the Monster Wrangler can deal good damage and stay alive longer than other of your party. This makes the Vocation reliable as it grows, allowing you to have a balanced party member.

Although the Wit Personality for the Priest Vocation doesn't have any "S" Growth Ratings, it does allow the Wisdom stat to grow more. This gives a potential Priest more MP to cast powerful magic to aid your party. However, while others may want the Genius Personality for its higher Wisdom Growth Rating, Wit does not sacrifice other stats to do this.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Review: A New Classic Of An Old Classic
Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake successfully introduces a new generation to one of the best RPGs of all time, along with a host of improvements.
Priests are by far the most important characters to keep alive in your party. The unique spells they can learn will often determine your party's success or failure against powerful enemies or bosses seen in DQ3 Remake's various dungeons. As a result, Wit keeps a Priest's health and speed growing moderately with average Stamina and Agility Growth Ratings you don't sacrifice for more potent magic damage.

Merchants offer little in combat, but to use their special ability that lets your party earn more Gold after winning battles, you need to keep them alive throughout encounters. This makes the Tough Cookie Personality great for this Vocation, as it greatly improves a Merchant's Stamina growth. This gives a Merchant character tons of points to their max HP as they level up, allowing them to survive in combat for longer.
The Strength and Resilience of any character you recruit is tied to the gear you give them as well. For example, a powerful sword will boost a character's overall Strength, while a piece of armor boosts one's Resilience.
Having a Merchant can be difficult as you reach the later stages of DQ3 Remake as battles get tougher. The Tough Cookie Personality gives you a way to improve a Merchant's Strength and Resilience, letting them become an above-average damage dealer or tank as they level up. While Merchants may not be as strong as a Warrior or Martial Artist, they won't drag your party down either with this Personality.

The Sage is a tricky class in DQ3 Remake, as it is the only Vocation you cannot recruit directly. You can only unlock this Class by leveling up a Gadabout character to Level 20 or using a special item called the Words of Wisdom to transform a pre-existing character into a Sage. That being said, it is best to use a character with the Genius Personality when you try to create a Sage for your team.
Sages are expert spellcasters, with the ability to learn magic from the Priest and Mage Vocations in equal measure. Since it is best to turn a Mage into a Sage, the best Personality for that class also applies to the Sage. The heightened Wisdom stat will give a Sage more MP and higher damaging spells, especially as the Mage they come from needs to be Level 20 before it can switch professions.

The best Personality for the Martial Artist class is the same as the Merchant - Tough Cookie. This Personality works better for the Martial Artist, however, due to the Vocation's design. Martial Artists are natural combatants, who thrive on dealing physical damage to enemies similar to the Warrior.

How To Beat Baramos In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake
Baramos is one of the toughest fights in the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. Here are some strategies to help you beat him, even if it takes a few tries.
Having more HP through a better Stamina Rating and more offense/defense with their improved Strength and Resilience makes for a straightforward and effective party member. Marital Artists can wield almost any weapon, so you can customize any character of this class more than others.

The Charmer Personality may be the best for the Hero, but Tough Cookie is another great option for the protagonist's unique Vocation. Your Hero's Personality is the only one in the game that you can influence by picking the right answers on the starting personality quiz in DQ3 Remake. Due to the Hero's flexibility in magic or physical attacks, you want their stats to be as even as possible when leveling up.
Another great Personality for the Hero is the Vamp, which also gives an even spread of above-average stat Growth Ratings. However, this Personality is only accessible if you are using Appearance B for your Hero character.
A high Strength Growth Rating can let you build a Hero who focuses on physical strikes, while the slight buff to the Hero's Wisdom could let them use their signature lightning magic more. Depending on how you want your Hero to look, the Charmer Personality allows you to spec in many different directions. The decent Resilience and good Stamina rates also give your Hero more survivability than some other dispositions.
Getting the Charmer Personality for your Hero will help your main character adapt to many situations as you mix and match characters for different party combos. The best Personality for every Vocation in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake should give you versatility, without taking away what makes a class strong to begin with.
