Vocations are Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake classes that you can choose for potential party , but anyone you hire also has a unique personality. A character's disposition determines how easy or difficult it is to grow a particular stat as they level up. Personalities each affect the Stat Growth Rating of a character's traits, which includes their Strength, Resilience, Agility, Stamina, Wisdom, and Luck. Warriors are physical damage dealers and tanks within your group. Characters of this Vocation in DQ3 Remake can have their damage boosted as their Strength grows faster with the Ironclad Personality, as well as their defense with faster-growing Resilience.

If you do not initially get the Personality you want on a character when you hire them as a party member, you can use some Accessory items to change it.

The only drawback of this Personality is the lack of speed your Warrior character will have as they level up. Every other stat from this Personality grows normally, except for a slightly slower Resilience growth. The "S" rank in Agility's Growth Rating gives a potential Thief the ability to always go first during combat, giving them a specialization that can help your team.

Speed can be crucial to a Thief's strengths, especially if you want to steal an item from a foe you encounter. It's better to steal an item first before the rest of your team goes, as doing that action first allows the rest of your team to spend their time eliminating the enemy afterward. Having high Agility will allow a Thief's speed to increase faster as they grow, allowing you to do this strategy more often.

7 Mage - Genius

Increase Your Wisdom And Agility Fast

The Genius Personality is great for the Mage Vocation, whose class is present in many strong party combos in DQ3 Remake. Magic and spellcasting are tied to spending MP, which grows over time concerning a character's Wisdom stat. Stamina arguably becomes a very important trait for the Monster Wrangler, as the extra growth to that stat increases max HP faster. With above-average Growth Ratings for Strength, Resilience, Agility, and Wisdom, the Monster Wrangler can deal good damage and stay alive longer than other of your party. This makes the Vocation reliable as it grows, allowing you to have a balanced party member.

5 Priest - Wit

Although the Wit Personality for the Priest Vocation doesn't have any "S" Growth Ratings, it does allow the Wisdom stat to grow more. This gives a potential Priest more MP to cast powerful magic to aid your party. However, while others may want the Genius Personality for its higher Wisdom Growth Rating, Wit does not sacrifice other stats to do this.

Priests are by far the most important characters to keep alive in your party. The unique spells they can learn will often determine your party's success or failure against powerful enemies or bosses seen in DQ3 Remake's various dungeons. As a result, Wit keeps a Priest's health and speed growing moderately with average Stamina and Agility Growth Ratings you don't sacrifice for more potent magic damage.

4 Merchant - Tough Cookie

This makes the Tough Cookie Personality great for this Vocation, as it greatly improves a Merchant's Stamina growth. This gives a Merchant character tons of points to their max HP as they level up, allowing them to survive in combat for longer.

The Strength and Resilience of any character you recruit is tied to the gear you give them as well. For example, a powerful sword will boost a character's overall Strength, while a piece of armor boosts one's Resilience.

Having a Merchant can be difficult as you reach the later stages of DQ3 Remake as battles get tougher. The Tough Cookie Personality gives you a way to improve a Merchant's Strength and Resilience, letting them become an above-average damage dealer or tank as they level up. While Merchants may not be as strong as a Warrior or Martial Artist, they won't drag your party down either with this Personality.

3 Sage - Genius

Apply The Same Wisdom Buff As The Mage

The Sage is a tricky class in DQ3 Remake, as it is the only Vocation you cannot recruit directly. You can only unlock this Class by leveling up a Gadabout character to Level 20 or using a special item called the Words of Wisdom to transform a pre-existing character into a Sage. The best Personality for the Martial Artist class is the same as the Merchant - Tough Cookie. This Personality works better for the Martial Artist, however, due to the Vocation's design. Martial Artists are natural combatants, who thrive on dealing physical damage to enemies similar to the Warrior.

Having more HP through a better Stamina Rating and more offense/defense with their improved Strength and Resilience makes for a straightforward and effective party member. Marital Artists can wield almost any weapon, so you can customize any character of this class more than others.

1 Hero - Charmer

Balance With Every Ability

The Charmer Personality may be the best for the Hero, but Tough Cookie is another great option for the protagonist's unique Vocation. Your Hero's Personality is the only one in the game that you can influence by picking the right answers on the starting personality quiz in DQ3 Remake. Due to the Hero's flexibility in magic or physical attacks, you want their stats to be as even as possible when leveling up.

Another great Personality for the Hero is the Vamp, which also gives an even spread of above-average stat Growth Ratings. However, this Personality is only accessible if you are using Appearance B for your Hero character.
