There are many armor sets you can get in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, but one of the strongest is the Auroral Armor. This blue, red, and gold set of protective gear improves a character's innate defensive stats and provides several unique additional benefits. However, to obtain this armor, you have to travel to a dangerous dungeon that could trick you into losing everything.

The Auroral Armor is the first of two separate Auroral pieces of gear you can find. The Armor can be paired with the Auroral Helm to make your Hero's protagonist look for the rest of the game if you desire. Among the available Vocations in DQ3 Remake, the Auroral Armor and Helm can only be worn by the Hero archetype, limiting its use to the main character of your team.

Where To Find The Auroral Armor

Explore The Right Dungeon

The Auroral Armor can be found at the Tower of Rubiss dungeon, a secluded location near the north of your map. This place exists almost at the very edge of your map, so you can head north and travel around the world's perimeter to find the Tower easily. Once you're there, you'll have to climb through several floors of this place to reach the Armor.

You cannot travel to the Tower of Rubiss without having entered the World of Darkness, Alefgard first. You also need to have beaten the boss Baramos before this dungeon becomes available for you to start exploring.

The Tower of Rubiss is not the largest, nor the most complex, dungeon in the game. However, you still have to fight through various monsters in DQ3 Remake during random encounters to make it through different floors. To get closer to the Auroral Armor, you need to ascend the Tower to its fourth floor (4F) as your party survives through multiple fights.

You may notice as you through rooms in the Tower of Rubiss how tiles along its many floors stand out with yellow and blue diamond patterns. These tiles alter your controls, causing whichever character is leading your party to change direction. When you step on a tile, one direction will light up red after a moment, indicating which movement is "forward" for as long as you stay on that tile.

How To Beat Baramos In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake

Baramos is one of the toughest fights in the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. Here are some strategies to help you beat him, even if it takes a few tries.

On the fourth floor, you can only reach the Auroral Armor by crossing a narrow bridge full of these tiles. For every tile you step on, your navigation is changed 90 degrees in one com direction, so take your time to carefully figure out how your controls have been changed. Falling off the bridge will cause your group to end up on the floor below the Armor, forcing you to start over.

The easiest way to get past the fourth-floor bridge is to not move from a tile until you know where each movement leads. Orient your party to figure out which movement inputs are up, down, left, and right before moving any distance. Rinse and repeat this process to eventually get to the other end of the bridge, where the Auroral Armor can be found in a chest.

Everything To Know About The Auroral Armor

Elemental Protection And Consistent Healing

One of the biggest benefits of the Auroral Armor is how it adds 82 points to your Defense stat by combining it with the item's protective score. On top of this, the Armor has two unique effects that are applied the moment you equip it to a character. These ive abilities include:

  • Reduces Damage Taken From Fire And Ice Spells
  • Recovers HP As A Character Walks

The resistance to fire and ice attacks can be great against spellcasters, especially bosses like the Chiromancer in DQ3 Remake. Many of the enemies remaining in the Tower of Rubiss dungeon after you obtain the Armor are wielders of these two elemental damages. Using the Auroral Armor can help you clear the rest of the Tower, including the boss fight at the end of it.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Review: A New Classic Of An Old Classic

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake successfully introduces a new generation to one of the best RPGs of all time, along with a host of improvements.

The best ability of the Auroral Armor, however, is its ive healing. Normally, you need to have a Priest or other class to heal your party consistently without using items, especially in a dungeon crawl. With the Armor, you can regain health simply by walking around, allowing your party combos in DQ3 Remake to be more flexible, as you may find less need for a dedicated healer.

No matter how you choose to use this equipment, it remains one of the most potent pieces of gear you can equip. When combined with the Auroral Helm, the Auroral Armor in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake can be the best final gear for your Hero as your party marches toward the final challenges of the game.
